Small operations and small businesses who have been growing weed before but now can do it out in the open. Hopefully that won't force the product to dip drastically, and also it will inspire competition between growers due to more public and allowable advertising. You can try different peoples stuff and maybe it'll be your thing.

i never thought about it like that, with the whole "free economy competition" aspect of it. or advertising. very good point.

Haha at first perhaps. But a few years from new we'll find out that, much like European countries with legal or heavily decriminalized Cannabis, the number of users will drop.

I always saw/read about debates saying how reefer would be a big boost to state income, but they always always placed the debate around the use of smoking, or ingesting it. Surprisingly growing hemp seems to be a much more difficult legal problem, one that no state has ever solved. Laws legalizing industrial hemp cultivation have already been passed in 10 states, but if anyone were to actually plant a field the expectation is the feds would quickly swoop in. Federal law makes no distinction between hemp and marijuana, they're both schedule 1 "drugs".

Bills and amendments to disentangle the legal status of hemp and marijuana are introduced in congress every year, but I don't think they've ever come close to passing.

Law goes into effect December 6th .. this is great news for me, I was wondering what i would do with my simple biology degree... and now i may be able to help advance the science of the medicinal uses of cannabis, or work in a quality control lab.

i know WA will become a leader in cannabis research, as we are on the coast and next to Canada, so the influx of supplies wont be interrupted by any crossing state lines approach to law enforcement... we will be a beacon of freedom.

Of course, soon the secret about what a great place WA is will be totally out.

Yeah, sad that the cop would ask about narcotics because of a joint. what year is this again? Insurance companies would like cannabis to be a sign of a good driver because that is what their data shows. People who are less likely to cause accidents than sober people today get treated the opposite which reverses who should be paying higher or lower premiums, etc.
