John Butler Trio - Ocean (Amazing acoustic guitar solo)

Doc_M says...

Sweet. 6-string might have worked better and might have been more impressive in general throughout, but very nice composition in general anyway.

AND, certainly a learnable tune for amateur players. FREAKIN YAY! Campfire WoWwers. Intro is skippable if you're playing for friends. That looks like the only really tough bit.

He is right, there are plenty of studies, the ones that come to mind are:
Took and Brandybuck, 1968;
Wayne, Banner, Parker and Kent, 1985;
McVie, Nicks, Buckingham, Fleetwood 1997;
Finally, the study by Lynn, Canyon, Donovan and Jameson in the late 80's.

Next time don't watch lord of the rings for your invented studies!

I still don't buy it. If i knew an easy way to, i'd go look at the studies. But i'm pretty sure my dog would have been recorded as having a "biting" incident when he nibbles on a toddler's ear. He's being affectionate in the way he knows, but admittedly it's not pleasant if he uses too much force.

Smoke n mirrors i reckon. Dogs raised CORRECTLY aren't violent without reason in the same way humans raised CORRECTLY aren't violent without reason. (as in, it happens about as often)

I do not like Pit Bulls !

>> ^budzos:
I don't like pitbulls either. It doesn't matter whether they're just as friendly as any other dog. The problem is when something DOES go wrong... an attacking pitbull is like an entirely different species from any other attacking dog. That's the point all these pitbull advocates seem to miss. 25 - 50% of all dogs raised well will still have a biting incident at some point in their existence.

no upvote for the fucking retarded commentary

No, you misunderstand. They coated him with flame retardant flea and tick killer earlier in the day and the camera guy was just surprised the dog still wasn't catching fire. (The label said it was only good for an hour and the dog even went swimming without reapplying afterwards.)

At least that's according to the original submitter at YouTube.

Chupacabra Caught and Analyzed

schmawy says...

Good point Rottenseed. Also doesn't rule out the existence of a goat sucker! The thing about these mythical cryptids, you can't ever prove they aren't out there. And in the middle of the night, a noise in the reaches beyond the campfire's light, could beeee ...CHUPACABRAAAA!

And on a side note, I was once behind a landscaping truck towing a woodchipper, and on the gaping, sappy maw of the machine one of the workers had painted "chippacabra". It was lolly.

Talk about grasping at straws... they really kind find anything else more negative to use against him? Get ready for President Obama. It's gonna be great.

Oh for the love of humanity, "It's gonna be great"? Just how many presidents have you lived through that were "great"? Obama will be a disaster, just like any of the other worthless candidates on either side. Oh wait, we also have Ralph Nader. Yeah, go get em', Ralph. The .2% of the vote he gets will be "Great!"

Let's all hold hands around the campfire as Obama leaves us defenseless against nuclear holocaust! Yippee!

Oh, and as my view Why VS, im an anarchist i expect (nothing else pins me down enough, and theres enough in anarchist to resist any pinning down of it for it to appeal on those grounds alone) so i probably would answer it similar to dags view, namely, that theres no flag to run too, or direction we must all go, and there ain't nothing wrong with all sitting around a campfire, some people leaving over time, some people joining, and sharing stories by the firelight.

Whats wrong with community, why must something beyond that be achieved.

Amazing NASA satellite video of Artic Ice Melt

"Unfortunately, I believe that is what he's saying.

I'll never understand the opponents of global warming. These people must have the same notion that you couldn't possibly get sick by standing in front of a campfire for 8 hours, and inhaling the smoke.

While I agree that only one time lapse video does not provide a definitive conclusion, it appalls me to think that there are people in this world stupid enough to not concede to the idea that mankind is causing irreparable harm to the environment through pollution, etc. Not equipped with logic, apparently."

It astounds me that people believe things without doing an ounce of research. Do you know the correlation between CO2 emissions and global average temperature? It happens to be 0.000%. Did you know the correlation between the Sun's surface temperature and global average temperature? I forget the exact number, but it's around 60-70%. So decreasing CO2 emissions does nothing -- this is a natural cycle that has happened in far more extreme fashions tens of thousands of times throughout history. We just like to think that we have more power than we really do.

By the way, this is a time lapse from mid-winter to late summer. Of COURSE it's going to be shrinking throughout. Good god man, grow some dendrites.

Reminds me of a song by the Red Hot Chili Peppers-

Holy mother Earth, crying into space,
tears on her pretty face, for she has been raped.
Killing her future blood, fill her with disease,
global abortion please, that is what she needs...

14 Signs of Fascism

joedirt says...

@Brkn

I believe you just called Cheney a 10 yr old? He might hunt you down for that.

"If you want to to inspire change, the way to do it is compromise"
Ooookay. You must give Congress like 110% approval. What a party-zombie you are. I'll bet you have your dailykos rss feed reloading every 2 mins.

Every sentient patriotic American should be yelling from the rafter, marching in the streets, if we had horses then riding from village to village. Hang up the lantern(s) in your attics folks. One if tyranny, two if by military coup. Maybe we should all put bumper-stickers on that say "the fascists are coming".

By the way, good luck getting the goo off the Constitution. See, Clinton only got it all over a blue dress. Bush, Cheney, and Fredo have been too busy dry humping something else.

I hope you keep voting to get more Dems elected, cause 2008 will fix things. Yep, 2006 really helped by adding more Dems to Congress. See, if you are having trouble starting a campfire, throwing more wet logs on top doesn't help much. Spineless capitulating cowards and spineless compromisers will get us all marching in the streets, but unfortunately it will be in black boots and parade formation.

Anyone who claims this country isn't headed towards fascism needs to (a) watch this video again, (b) pick up a copy of your 10th grade world civ book and read a little. What do you think precipitated the Nazi rise to power? I'll give you a hint, check the stock market Monday (today) morning.

(But seriously Phoenix, yer doing a heckva job for Bush apologists)

Borat builds a campfire and wakes up next to an evangelical church. Then when he wanders in he they grab him up and heal the devil out of him.

As an evangelical myself, I love that scene.
