How many brokers shorted GME? Will the world crash if they burn and the whole market learns not to sell short other than as a hedge and/or in a quantity that is unlikely to not be available?

For me it is the shorting brokers that are doing something that is not acceptable. The kids are taking advantage and probably colluding, but that would not happen without the prior excessive shorting.

Obviously it had to stop at some point. Possibly regulation is needed for the shorts.

Given the polls put support for gay marriage in Aus between 65 and 85%, the only way the no vote will win is through voter apathy.

Conservatives are motivated and will fill out their postal votes. Staunch equal rights activist will of course vote yes. The middle ground in Australia is mostly apathetic and that's where you might find this whole thing falls on it's tits unfortunately.

Annnnnd the plebiscite is not binding... So if the gov still doesn't want to go ahead with it, they don't actually need to (although I suspect they will cop a short term shellacking in the polls because of it).

I think almost all atheist already would prefer Sanders over Clinton, and if voting in a primary will likely choose him over her. Nothing new here.

At the general election though we likely have a choice between Clinton and either the fascist regime of Trump, or Cruz who is fairly scary on his own right. Actually any of the lead candidates for the eventual nomination, brokered or not, are fairly scary.

The choice for President isn't between Clinton and Sanders, and if she gets the nomination then we have to show out in force to insure our nation doesn't go the fascist route the Republicans seem to be pushing towards.

The foreign policy of both Russia and the US is far more motivated by domestic policy than "imperialism" or "cold war tactics".

Putin just needs to appear to be winning. Winning wars, media arguments, just winning anything. Crossword competitions, ice hockey games, fishing, push-ups, literally anything. With not much to be gained in Ukraine quickly, he can switch to helping Assad to quash rebels and appear to fight the IS. Russian air support and logistics will have small losses and big PR gains. Putin is clever so he will avoid direct confrontation with the IS leading to a long stalemate and much destruction, in Iraq mainly.

Obama needs to do stupid unworkable things like "spread democracy", "help Israel no matter what", "broker peace in the middle east" and "support 'friends' of the US, some of them as bad as Assad" - its nearly impossible for him to have a sane middle east policy. There is nothing Obama can do in the short term in Syria. He probably cant reconsider his position on Assad and there is no reasonable path to topple Assad gracefully. Also no direct path to fight IS - Turkey will fight Kurds before fighting IS, Israel has to be careful.
