Coyote Peterson - Finale- Giant Desert Centipede Bite

StukaFox says...

"If you see one of these things in the desert, don't touch it!"

Naw, really? The big, pissed-off centipede thing with giant jaws: Don't touch that? Well, FUCK! NOW you tell me! Damn, I was about to pet it and call it George. You certainly saved my ass there, Mr. "Hey -- I wonder what'll happen if I piss this motherfucker off and let it bite me? OW OW OW OW OW OW!!"

The saddest thing is there's probably video out on the internets of some guy sticking one of these things on his dick and letting it bite him. I mean, getting bit on the forearm is so 2017: you gotta up your game to get those YouTube views! 20,000,000 views and you get a free yo-yo!

Yup, time to write another review on Leafly.

Police K9 attacks innocent woman dumping her garbage

newtboy says...

I think so too, but they should have said that instead of their normal MO, lying.
It's probably why they held her too, the dog is trained to hold until the suspect is in custody....or until the instant he's given the release command.
Again, they should have said so instead of the normal 'take complete control without explanation', imo.
That he kept biting means he or his handler is not properly trained and to me it's reasonable to think the program should be suspended pending retraining of the entire k9 unit, because clearly they can't properly control their dogs, and that's a deadly hazard they're now aware of.

I would hazard a guess that they normally allow the dog to chew their suspect a bit, so it was confused.

I think the reason they were telling her she was fine was to calm her down, because the more she reacted, the more aggressive the dog would be.

What? Apparently we didn't watch the same thing.

They had both her arms, tight, and the third one seemed to be reasoning with the dog, while telling her "your fine" as she's held tight and repeatedly bitten. They didn't ever try to pull her away either, they held her still (probably hoping that would calm the dog enough to stop mauling her).
If it was biting one of them, they would punch, kick, taze, pepper spray, and shoot that dog. No question in my mind, I've seen dozens of instances where they did just that for far smaller, non threatening dogs.
I sure as hell wouldn't want them to hold me down where I couldn't defend myself at all while they let the dog continue to bite....that's how they did it in the 60's, and it's still not ok.

Did we watch the same video?

The officer's weren't 'just watching her get mauled and restraining her from defending herself', two of the officers were trying to pull her away from the dog and the third officer was trying to pull the dog off. If I was unlucky enough to get bitten, I'm not sure what more I'd want to officers to do. About the only faster way out is shooting the dog which is admittedly risky when it's still chewing on your arm.

How one tweet can ruin your life - Jon Ronson

newtboy says...

Here, they can have a bite of you, you racist monster,
Maybe you won't only lose your job, but can also be berated off the internet, ostracized by friends and neighbors, and publicly shamed for decades, and denied employment, then have others talk about you as if nothing happened and you deserve worse.
As our local racist race baiter, it would be poetic justice.....

Care to rethink?

I understand that trying to duck, dodge and otherwise change the topic is maybe the best defense you can come up with, but I'm not biting either. You may want to consider if you're the one that should give an inch on occasion and not just support the 'monsters' you've defended for their single racist tweet.

You callously said the victim 'only' lost their job, and then posted a link that can only be read as implying the victim truly is filled with a hateful ideology that they should be repenting of.

Never having to fear financial disruption due to an opinion does afford one a sense of liberty. No company is going to fire your shares and stop sending dividends.

jon's clever attempt to sway public opinion on a fools tweet lines his pockets with book royalties and speaking fees. He's profiting from a special kind of sinister back door racism. It enriches him financially and psychologically with the praises from the suckers who are being told to all go buy his book.

The very thought of being embarrassed or shamed by profiting from racism in a country built by slaves is truly hilarious. No matter if you stand or take a knee all are paying rent or interest.

Aikido - Hiromi Matsuoka

transmorpher says...

Fighting on the street isn't even comparable to MMA. Not to take away from the hardness of any MMA fighter, but MMA is a sport. There are rules, and it's a safe environment (as safe as can be considering what happens in the octagon). You don't have to worry about the other guy poking your eye out or biting you, you probably won't die, etc.

The best thing for self defense is to be able to identify a dangerous situation, and get away from it using any means necessary, before it escalates. Getting into your car and driving away is the best thing you can do.

The other part of it is not looking like a victim, it's a body language thing.

And in these cases, Aikido is as good as any other martial art.

Having said that I'd still love to see someone use Aikido in an MMA match just for entertainment, because the only videos I've ever seen are ones like this, where the partner is going with the flow to avoid injury.

Actually now that I think about it, are you allowed to dislocate/break joints in MMA? Because the damage is likely to be permanent.

Drachen_Jager said:

Yeah, @ChaosEngine that's true, but it still doesn't work in real life.

Nobody uses Akido in MMA.

Orville: Ed & Kelly Argue About Their Past Marriage To Krill

newtboy says...

Yep. I hate that.
I get both east and west coast networks, so I get two bites at the apple.

ant said:

Thanks. I am on west coast. FOX did this with its Orville episode last Sunday due to its delayed NFL game so I didn't get all of 5:00 PM PDT show. I had to record its 8:00 PM PDT. At least west coast got it twice.

Simple Rick's - New Freedom Wafer Select

newtboy says...

Once, there was a Rick who was more Rick than any other. He brought down an entire galactic federation with a single keystroke.
We captured that feeling of ultimate accomplishment and fed it back to him on a loop, so we can feed it to you in every bite of new Simple Rick's Ultimate Reserve.
Come home to the feeling of galactic domination.....come home to Simple Rick's.

New Rule: Fee F**king

smr says...

Guys, it's the vendors. They pay for that "free" loan and a lot of the benefits. And the credit card companies lobbied it in by making it illegal for a business to charge a different price for cash than plastic. That's recently (last 5 years or so) been overturned. If you've ever had the distinct pleasure of navigating the byzantine and maddening world of credit card clearance fees, you would know that not all cards take as big a bite out of your transaction with the consumer. And it just so happens that the juicier benefits cards cost the vendor even more. That's a minimum of 1.8%, usually 2.5% and as high as 4%. That means the bank floats you the $ for 30 days average at 2.5% = 30% APR. It's quite a racket. There's a reason you get 3 very expensive mailers with fake cards and whatnot a week.

Victim Gets Revenge On Bully By Dating His Mom

eric3579 says...

Not ftw, and not a victim anymore imo. Now he's just an asshole. He had to make it public by calling a radio station. Stupid as fuck. I'm guessing karma will bite him in the ass. No one wants someone like that working for them.

(edit) oops i had skipped the first part. Still a douchebag.

Tony Awards 2013 - Neil Patrick Harris and Mike Tyson

bcglorf says...

To be fair, his ability to punch people really hard was top notch. Additionally, as he lost his edge of being the best at punching people, he was good at biting people, so there's that too.

Honestly I couldn't agree more with you. Maybe I just haven't seen what the 'redeeming' factor is, but seems like his celebrity of personality just managed to carry on and the industry just kept cashing in on it. So blame everyone of us that still cares enough about his appearances to comment on him for both good or ill. You know, like we are...

ChaosEngine said:

In light of how awesome that was, I feel churlish bringing this up; but what is with Mike Tyson coming back into things these days?

The guy's a convicted rapist. Yes, he served his time and everyone deserves a second chance, but do we really have to embrace him as some kind of pop culture icon?

In an atmosphere where everything from Penny Arcade to Game of Thrones is being labelled as a "trigger warning", why is no-one questioning this? If my facts are wrong, please correct me, but honestly, it seems pretty fucked up to me.

On Condom Failure

MilkmanDan says...

As someone who went through 2 rounds of sex ed -- through my family's church (better than you think, but not by much), and public school (worse than you think; mostly consisting of "here's a picture of a dick with gonorrhea, LOOK AT IT"), it seems like videos like this available through YouTube are likely to be a massive improvement on practical sex ed. So kudos to the consistently awesome Green brothers for figuring that out and doing something about it!

However, I would point out a misleading bit in the YT text:
"Probabilities eventually collapse into reality, and then that couple no longer has a 2% chance of probability, they have a 100% chance, because they're pregnant, and everyone else has a 0% chance."

...Yeah, not really. That couple is still subject to the 2% probability, they just happen to be one of the statistically (mildly) unlikely examples that make the chance 2% instead of 0. And much more importantly, everyone else still has a 2% chance, not a 0% chance.

Misunderstanding statistics / probability in that way leads to all kinds of erroneous assumptions and behavior. Like putting a huge bet on red + even in roulette because the past 5 hits have been black + odd and red + even is "due". Or driving around with no seat belt because someone you know was just in an accident, thereby biting the "statistical bullet" and making everybody else safe for a while. Every roll of the dice is a new event with the same odds as the roll before it.
