Reto Berra's Bicycle Kick Save

Reto Berra's Bicycle Kick Save

Very Rare Triple Play

dirkdeagler7 says...

The analogy I would make with this is, a corner kick that gets bicycle kicked into a post which bounces off the back of the goal tenders head and is nudged/headed in by the offense.

One part good fortune, one part mistake, and one part heads up playing.

This guy is awesome at kicking american footballs!!!

Kicking a 60 yard field goal at your leisure isn't actually very hard. Many people can do that. Doing it while eleven monstrous men are doing their utmost to stop you, preferably severely injuring you in the process, is the real trick.

Playing hacky-sack with the ball then a bicycle kick through the uprights (1:47) is worthy of some respect.

Luck or Skill? I'm betting luck....

It's not luck. At least, not in the way you think it is. Keeping a ball up is simple, a bicycle kick is something a professional striker would call simple, the only question is placing it right. He knew where the goal was, he's been kicking balls all his life.

If it was luck, then you may as well call all ranged shots luck. You aim, you guess at the right power, you shoot.

Orientation is quite easy, actually. Central position, just outside the box -- it hardly gets any simpler than that. Putting the right amount of juice behind your shot to achieve such a perfect rainbox from an overhead kick, now that's much more difficult. Inside the box, you aim at a downward angle, so you don't have to worry about the amount of force you put into it.

And it really is much easier if you put it up yourself instead of trying to convert a cross someone bent into the penalty area. I can't count the number of times I tried a bicycle kick after a cross only to have the ball end up near the bloody corner flag or cross the net behind the goal. Most of the time though, you simply miss the ball and look like a fool.

Proper procedure for CPR

*Chuck Norris. Bicycle Kick to the chest. Clean remains with mop.
*MacGyver. Construct an elaborate Rube Goldberg machine using a piece of toast, some metal wires, and a rubber hammer. **Bonus points: Build sentient robots of the same materials.
*Keira Knightly. Show your boobs.
*William Shatner. Talk about yourself until the patient walks off in disgust.
*Rosie O'Donnel. See: 'Keira Knightly' and 'William Shatner' combined.

If you are none of these people, the best thing to do is to panic and run around with your arms flailing wildly.

Yao Ming's incredible behind-the-back, no-look flip shot

^Yes, it's behind-the-back. He was facing the opposite direction of the basket when he shot the ball. Yes, it's a flip shot. If you've ever seen a game of basketball before, you'd know that players do not perform backflips and Liu Kang bicycle kicks during the game. A flip shot is a "flick of the wrist" shot.
Based on your assumption that this shot is easy, you're probably not very familiar with basketball. I'd recommend doing a search of some of the other cool basketball videos on the Sift to get a feel for how unique a shot like this is.

Oh son, you must not have watched much basketball in your life. You're so wrong in thinking its "behind-the-back" that I can't even explain it to you. Go back to loving Obama or give up sports. And no, don't ask any of us what is behind the back...it's pointless for you.
