Hannity: Jon Stewart Was Right

(being a tech dude, when I see stuff like this I automatically have a bias, for the best or worst)

What "tech dude" from any news industry doesn't know how to spell "reel"?
Any "tech dude" who has ever worked with video, and is under the age of 40, has pretty much ONLY worked with DigiBeta. It is the industry standard, and as such, you simply must use time-stamped video which is displayed in large format.
This was deliberate, as was Fox's earlier transgressions on using footage from the million man march to trump up their numbers for Beck's retarded 9/12 teabag fest, and to help them sell their wildly inflated numbers for this Bachmann fiasco. To think this was anything but deliberate is either dishonest or naive.

Read up and read "Newspaper", we worked with stock photo's and web content. Mix up happen even at that level, which is much more simple. Bruti made the point that the editor himself might not of known better, but the person that picked out the clips made the error, which sounds likely. In that, would it not be so farcical to assume that the, most likely non-technical person wasn't looking at the dates and just the content of the reel? It could of been mischievous I don't doubt that, but I can just as easily chalk it up to a mistake, seen it done before, even on CNN and MSNBC.

(O and I misspell everything! Firefox fixes most of it for me )

Every system has a time stamp. You can't cut a piece without a time stamp. The sheer fact of editing that video, means you had to use the time stamp, unless that producer/editor/smart monkey was guessing and estimating how long each clip should be. If you can't see the giant digital numbers at the bottom of the screen, you're legally blind. I'm willing to bet that they use DigiBeta, most news rooms still do. It's great quality and lasts forever.
Edit: I used "can" instead of "can't." To repeat myself, you cannot edit a piece accurately without a time stamp =P

Heheh funny, when I read it I read can't anyway. I haven't used Digibeta, so I can't attest. And perhaps I just have to much sympathy for the people behinds the scenes making things happen. I've seen and caused numerous problems, and fixed at the last moment things about to go out to people. It happens, big flashing date or not. Then again, it could be some sinister attempt to make 10k people look like 20k, but if it isn't, I feel sorry for the tech dude who takes the fall on it

Totally. I mean the first thing I heard from these guys was Voyage 34. Coma Divine and In Abstenia were their some of their best.

Deadwing just... didn't resonate at all and i was there at their tour when they passed through Montreal. I did cum at the end though when they honored the fans and played radioactive toy and trains... as an encore.

I'm guessing you thought coma divine was the best and deadwing the worst. A lot of people don't like deadwing, but as I was introduced to them with their In Abstentia album, deadwing was a nice dark follow up. Once I heard Coma Divine though, I wondered why they decided to stray from that sound.

In reply to this comment by Farhad2000:
It's funny how you picked to me one of their best and worst albums as a combination.

I guess now i have to listen to it.

I really miss them doing stuff like Voyage 34.

Glenn Beck's Hate Speech, Paid For By...

peggedbea says...

how exactly is it hypocrisy to hate glenn beck?

i hate glenn beck
and you can hate the president all you want.
i also hate the president.
"theyre marching us to facism, 1984"
"the president is a marxist"
"the president is a racist"
everyone accepts that anyone can be a racist, but wheres the evidence exactly?

but lets look at the wider picture, glenn beck is an entertainer passing himself off as a journalist providing valid, researched, fact checked information to millions of people a night. its disingenuous at best and dangerous divisive fearmongering lies at best. the worst kind of lies too. lies for profit. lies that take advantage of a scared illinformed base, for money.

and i suppose i recognize his right to feel think believe and say any sort of loony ideas he wants. but i dont want to buy the product from the people who pay his salary. just like i dont want to buy blood diamonds, and i would like to be able to know if the electronics i purchased were made with conflict minerals. and i should do a better job of checking for vivisection free alternatives to products i use everyday.

and thanks for supplying us with some proof of that btw

I don't care enough to google it to win some petty disagreement. If you care enough, go forth and google to your heart's content and you will find some statistics on the matter. Whether they're true or not; I don't know.

Also, I don't think giving to charities is only incentivized by government tax breaks. In fact, most of the money I give isn't even tax deductible. I think the ACLU is a decent watchdog group and I give monthly to them, and not one cent of that is tax deductible because they consider it a political organization even if it is not for profit.

Making an observation where people spend more liberally based on personal freedoms does not equate to 'Go USA and fuck the rest' but surely you will find a cheap and favorable audience with nanny-apologists like NetRunner.
There's no proof that we tip more because it's part of our "culture". You cannot manufacture statistics for your convenience. Is it also part of our culture to be the most generous when it comes to giving to charities, because that, too, is a provable statistic - and I don't mean government aid or any of that shit. I'm talking individuals freely choosing to give to charities. What a strange "culture" that is indeed.

There's no proof Americans tip more because they have so much more individual freedom (as you seem to think) than everybody else either.

And a more plausible reason to why Americans give so much to charity (and thanks for supplying us with some proof of that btw) is because so much of it is tax deductable, which is a government incentive to donate money. To give a frame of reference, where I live you can only get tax deductions for donations given to a small number of organisations (government approved ones), and people still donate a lot of money.

...and stop trying to use random facts as proof of your personal political viewpoints, blankfist.

Perfect example. Go to an amusement park in Canada, then one in America. Yeesh, it's like leaving Milan for Jersey.

okay, I'm not being a smart-ass here, but I have no idea what that means... Which country are you saying has better amusement parks?

Hehe. Amusement parks just exemplify it perfectly. People in Canada dress stylishly even in amusement parks, or so I've observed. It's a "I'm going to be in public" attitude difference.

Hot damn! You go girl!

I'll add my own theory for why this survey might be accurate: income inequality. Our rich and famous are vastly more rich than Europe's. Most Americans staying in European hotels are going to be particularly likely to be disproportionately more wealthy than the rest of the people who stay there.

We're also very in love with dominance games, and being a big tipper in a swank European hotel is more about trying to send the message that you're rich and important than it is an indicator of some other aspect of personality.
