Jack White totally getting into it. Let's build a home
@BillOreilly,

I've read your comments on many other videos, and I get it. I'm pretty impressed, actually, that you've got BillO's character down so well at times.
Not that I'm getting anywhere responding to your messages (Because I think you're playing a 'character', and if you aren't, then we'll probably never see eye-to-eye regardless), my reference was simply to the fact that it's fun and something to remember when something out of the ordinary happens that wasn't 'scheduled' or planned out. And yes, it's fun to see a performer's string break, and they continue with the song regardless, pull it off, and make it sound as good, if not better. My point was that the White Stripes say they don't worry about such occurances, instead they welcome it.
@karaidl,
Some of their song lyrics are incredibly simple, Let's Build a Home is definitely one of those. So is "Let's Shake Hands" and "Astro" (many of which could very well be double-meaninged =p). But they've also got some very well-written lyrics as well. Especially, but not exclusively, on their new album. If interested, check out Effect and Cause, A Martyr for my Love for you, and 300 MPH (Just a few off the new album). Good stuff
@myn,
Yeah, Canada loved them for touring every Province on such a significant tour (Their 10th anniversary AND the tour for their new record). They were raved about in the papers, and I went to the show the night before the Edmonton one you mentioned, when they were in Calgary. Great stuff, and yeah, the youth centre show was rather admirable.

The self promotion rule (Sift Talk Post)
I think the only change needed, is in the Sifters who fail to see that the community here should assist with users-own links. It is (or was) the first rule of VideoSift: don't self-link - a quick look through the vast amount & regularity of SiftTalk blogged vids shows it works (as a rule to ban - obviously fails to prevent anything!)
So as I said: the users who fail to use the community and are caught self-linking have no excuse. The rule simply and effectively eavens the playing field of VideoSifting, holds off astro-turf commercial crap and further bonds its users in trust. I really don't understand the issues people have with it.

The Monty Hall Problem
What does this have to do with the world being round? Stop trying to build a strawman argument or whatever hand-waving you're trying to do, and deal with the actual issue at hand. The problem does not begin with two doors, it begins with three. And since the greatest chance of choosing a wrong door begins with that initial choice, it therefore becomes to the player's advantage to rechoose, thus exchanging a lesser probability of choosing the right door for a higher probability when one wrong door is eliminated.
Also, since I know you're not going to really read the above, before you go off on your next obnoxiously self-congratulating post, please explain to me how, myself and my fellow sifters aside, mathematics, physics, and computer science professors from (and I'm taking this straight from Google as they come) the University of California San Diego, Hofstra University, the University of Southern Carolina, the University of Chicago, Rice University, the United States Naval Academy, Dartmouth College, the University of Illinois, the University of Alabama, and Stanford University have all managed to slip up and not realize how right you really are? And since of course science and math are not, as you said, democratic, perhaps you should take the time to alert them to their collective silly mistake, as well as correct each of their obviously wrong examples that they have provided on their respective websites. You could change the world of mathematics as we know it!
What Happened to Choggie? (Sift Talk Post)
Well his last video was posted 33 minutes ago. I don't think he's gone anywhere.
The Self-linking Thread (Sift Talk Post)
It seems my comments have been mis-construed into some kind of Witch Hunt, which I never intended...And I know only too well what one is; as a relative was burnt as a witch (possibly why my mums side of the family is full of martyrs!) Plus, I've been on the receiving end of incorrect 'trigger-happy' discards myself in the past (but I certainly don't blame anyone, as the rules are vague). Anyway: I'm a person of principle - if somethings against my ethics then I'll have no conscious part of it in a very vocal way (what hasn't helped me gain friends or votes here!) This is certainly one of those occasions, so let me explain why:
Example scenarios where the proposed rule change fails: I have no doubt the Sifters commenting here only want to share good videos with this great community. But using the same community to host or submit the video is an addition to the social bindings that I feel are the biggest attraction on the Sift. Personally, I would be disappointed to see sanctioned self-links being added to the rules for anyone of any status - I could only possibly envisage two allowances: (I've run out of listings, so I'm using smileys!)P.S: Sorry Ren, my comment wasn't directed at yourself (I also positively voted and commented for both, I believe) - but a good example of why something needs to change.

How Not To Act on a First Date
I prefer "Spamvertising" in this case. Astro-turfing by definition involves fake "grass-roots" support for something. Like Nike putting viral "homemade" youtube videos out.
How Not To Act on a First Date
“Astro Turfing” was first coined by Lloyd Bentsen to describe fake grassroots campaigns to sway public opinion. LonelyGirl15 was one example, a production selling itself as a vlog, The Wall Street Journal has fingered the PR company DCI for posting a parody of Al Gore to take the sting out of An Inconvenient Truth and others... like the one above...
How Not To Act on a First Date
This really reeks of astro-turfing, as does this clip from the same source and user. The two clips come from the same exact place and are so inane I can't imagine why anyone would want to sift them other then to astroturf.
The user superganja23 has been inactive for 154 days. Suddenly he shows up with these two videos. Obviously it would have been only a matter of time before people realized not to make accounts with the same names on VS and YouTube, when astroturfing.

Steve Johnstone - sunlight - music video - frofar records
I second that smell of self-link: the iFilm user seems to be astro-turfing to me ("Steve Johnstone track called "Sunlight" on Frofar Records available on Volume 2 EP www.frofarrecords.com").
PEPSI in the Clouds
Token downvote before it gets baleeted. Bye bye lowlife astro-turfer.
Crazy super-fundie christian freak on Trading Spouses.
Ahhh. Condolences... seriously.
Well, if you are looking for a specific answer here, I think you will find as many different opinions on the whole "is there a God" question as there are people willing to give it to you. You probably already know mine if you've read some of my posts, but I, like many, am still seeking answers to many questions I have. The questions I have are mostly philosophical and astro-physical (is that the right word?), rather than meta-physical. I don't believe in God. I'm not saying you shouldn't. I don't know you, and my opinion shouldn't count for scratch to you, but I will say I don't think you should feel pressure to go "back to the church" if it isn't right for you. At least for now. It isn't going anywhere. Read some Ayn Rand. ;-) Your children have their whole lives to decide what they wish to believe. Your father being a "very strong believer" does not mean you are beholden to his wishes, as much as you wish to honor his life. Live your life for you. Try to be happy. Regardless of what you believe or don't believe, or understand or don't understand, being happy and just "living" are really all we can do. If you believe there is a God, then you probably believe that is what he would expect of you. If you don't believe in God, then why would you want to live any other way? JMHO.
