I've seen a docu about that already and even just being reminded of how they treat those animals makes me sick and fucking angry; to the point where I have to stop myself from wishing those people to be skinned alive, because I abhor violence.

Why do you stop yourself wishing they should be skinned alive? They SHOULD be skinned alive. They should all be executed in a manner fitting of their crimes. They have inflicted more than enough animal cruelty and murder to equal many human lives.
There is a difference between being an evil person that inflicts violence upon others for criminal purposes, whatever they may be, and being a good person that is okay taking out the trash of humanity, while treating all others with kindness and respect.
Violence is horrible, but is a part of this world. Bad people rely upon good people appeasing them and wanting to 'not be violent'. Really... they should be wiped from the planet as quickly as possible.

“As soon as men decide that all means are permitted to fight an evil, then their good becomes indistinguishable from the evil that they set out to destroy.” -Christopher Dawson

Your family is being murdered, would you not use each and every means at your disposal to defend them at any cost? And, after saving them, would you then believe that your actions were justified? Of course you would (and so would the law). Throughout history man, sadly, has had to resort to base instincts and do the unthinkable to defend what is right. But combating evil with necessary evil, does NOT make you evil. It makes you a human and, though unpalatable, sometimes good has to fight fire with fire to ensure that evil does not succeed.

No one knows the catkiller's state of mind. To suggest that he's a psychopath is reaching and namecalling at the best.

Animal cruelty is fine, IF the animal is delicious. Otherwise it's fucking sick.

I hope that big dog got put down. Good job it wasn't a child's face it had hold of. Owners who just don't know their dogs.... /facepalm

Check out the caption at the bottom. That dog was just rescued from a puppy mill that was shut down for animal cruelty.

Fair point. Makes me feel better about the dog but worse about the owner.

Lab research dogs see the sun and grass for first time

I've done biomedical research on animal subjects...it takes a huge emotional toll.

The idea that these animals are tended to by 'heartless scientists' is usually quite fallacious in modern times. There are some famous cases done more than 50 years ago, at a time where science really was cruel and heartless to human and animal subjects alike.

In academic settings and in modern protocols, the animals are required to be treated as ethically as possible, and third parties are usually present to enforce the ethical treatment. First, it's just not possible to do research on an animal that is not used to human interaction. They need to be as comfortable as they can be with humans; they need to respond well to being handled, or else people can't realistically perform tests on them. Long periods of time are initially spent just handling and playing with the animals.

Human ethics have really come a long way from the time when hippies really did have something to complain about with animal cruelty.

The dancing squid dish from Japan

packo says...

its much nicer when the real animal cruelty is hidden so we get our chicken mcnuggets without it resembling a once living thing... cruelty that's hidden is much much more civilized... then again, this debate only happens because we have the luxury of picking/choosing what we eat, and preparing it in a way so that it no longer resembles what it was alive... if you lived in a 3rd world country (or lived below the poverty line - as more and more people do) you'd think this whole debate was pretty stupid

even more so because a LARGE % of the people that whine/moan about animal cruelty, don't lift a finger to help fellow human beings...

and if the squid was chopped up into penne sized chunks, and the same liquid was poured on it, and it jumped and moved and squirmed... you "civilized" people wouldn't have the same reaction

thank god us civilized nations go through the trouble of disguising our food so as to not be cruel

and yes, the squid was already dead

Dog rescued after spending 10 years tied to a chain outside

Porksandwich says...

My parents adopted a German Sheppard that had spent the majority of 5 years chained up outside. They threw trash out in his area, cans, glass...he rarely had clean water and I think about as much of the food he ate was trash as it was actual dog food. This was down near my grandmother's property, they started giving him food and water and called the police/animal shelter. That went on for the better part of a year, and they eventually found out that they deemed the dogs living environment suitable because he had food and water every time they checked. Which my parents had been providing to him and they said it didn't matter who gave it to him as long as he had it.

Eventually they convinced someone at the property to give them the dog....and they hadn't had the dog for 2 days when the police showed up to take it back claiming the dog had been stolen. It took another day or so with police witnessing it that they were giving the dog to my parents and they've had him since. His collar had dug into his neck because he'd outgrown it, the tree had grown around his chain, he could barely move 5 feet in any direction. He's about 10 or 11 years old now. He had heart worms when they got him, bad joints although not nearly as bad as the dog in this video, fairly labored breathing due to the heart worms is the best guess, very afraid of lightning they couldn't put him in any sort of structure without him ruining it. He's gotten better about the lightning and behaving more like the other dog they have.

But before his previous owners lost/left their house in 2006-2008 range they had gotten another dog and had a bunch of cats. They of course didn't treat them well and when they lost the house they left most of the animals behind. So now that neighborhood has a huge stray cat problem, and my parents try to keep food and water out for them. I think there is one other person in that neighborhood that even bothers to try to make up for what those people did to those animals by feeding them and keeping water out, plus try to get them neutered so they can't keep breeding.

And I've seen a dog that I can't even guess how old it was chained outside a house, it had a little dog house but it's water bowl wasn't big enough to hold water all day on a hot day. It's horrible, but at some point you just can't call in on every animal problem you see because you'd spend all your time doing that....and the laws are so shitty when it comes to animal cruelty that the person just replaces the animal if someone were to take it.

netean says...

There are very few things in this world that upset me. Man's inhumanity to man, bothers me, but we're all fucktards so I can understand it. But animal cruelty, animal neglect, animals as commodities and resources, just upsets me more than it's possible to describe.

Just watch that video, look how that dog looks SO happy at being petted.

Come the revolutions, fucktards like this dog's owner are first up against the wall.

Congrats to the Animal rescue center for being brave and finally stepping in to help.
