Disney's Maleficent: Mistress of Evil

Scifi? Really? I saw the first one but my memory of it is crap, Angelina Jolie does make a good witch though.

NOFX: Creeping Out Sara

eric3579 says...

I was backstage at a festival in Germany
talking to a cute fair skinned brunette
I asked her if she wanted to have a beer and if she liked our set
I noticed that her hair was longer in the back
I figure that’s cuz she’s Canadian
That’s why I was surprised when she told me she was fully lesbian

That's when I realized it was Sara, or maybe it was Tegan
I'm pretty sure that it was Sara
Cause Johnny Sampson said she was the cooler one

I told her I was a big fan of her band
She asked me if I had a favorite song
I admitted that I'd never actually heard them, but I like k.d. lang

I told her this Jew knows about the Juno’s
And how they got robbed three times in a row
And then I asked her if she knew of anyone who was selling pills or blow

That's when I creeped out Sara or maybe I just pissed her off
When I asked her if her sister and her had ever had a threesome?
Where they both ganged up one girl, a forgy or a fivesome?
Do they think strap-ons are groovy, and had they ever seen the movie
Bound and did they like Jennifer Tilly, did they like Jennifer Tilly?

Sara said she preferred Gina Gershon, Angelina Jolie
In the Gia movie that was on HBO
And “If These Walls Could Talk” made Tegan cry a lot
After that I forgot what she said
That's the problem with Diazepam, so many things I don't remember
But I've got a sinking feeling, it's not that I'm a clairvoyant

But I think that I creeped out Sara, I was creeping out on Sara
I hope it wasn't Tegan, cuz Matt Skiba said she is the cooler one

Assassin's Creed Trailer

Mordhaus says...

Let's be realistic, there isn't a single video game movie that worked. Some made profits simply because of their name or because they booked a star with a built in fanbase (Angelina Jolie, Jake Gyllenhaal, Milla Jovovich), but the movies themselves sucked. Even Mortal Kombat was only good because it was soooo bad. I hesitate to even mention Street Fighter, Doom or Hitman 47. Street Fighter basically killed Van Damme's career, well that and a ton of coke.

Sadly, studios will keep making them because they can eke out a profit off the fanbase at least once or they will waste enough money that they can write it off their yearly profits.

Would you join The Church Of Cannabis?

Making cocaine in Colombia

Trancecoach says...

Yes, you're ignored, and I read your comment anyway.

No, in saying "use drugs," I was not "implying cannabis." I said "use drugs" because I meant "use drugs." Rather than trying to interpret or 'read into' what I'm saying, it might help if you responded to my post, and not what you post in your mind on my behalf.

And I will take you up on your 'challenge:' below is a list of ten "highly intelligent" people who have used cocaine (note: at no point did I say "encourages the use of cocaine." I said "use drugs" without becoming addicted, and being able to function), so that you can provide me with 10,000 more** whose lives and families have been destroyed by it. (**And note here, we're talking about individuals whose lives were destroyed by the use of cocaine itself, and not by the pointless drug laws that imprison people for having a mental or emotional condition that provokes "self-medication" as a form of treatment. Nor are we talking about the illegal status of cocaine which, itself, gives rise to violent cartels that function in the shadow of its legal status.)

So, while certainly many of the following list of "highly intelligent" (non-cognitively deficient) and successful "celebrities" may no longer be using cocaine, all of the following have used cocaine and are/were not addicted and function(ed) just fine:

Sigmund Freud
Thomas Edison
Oprah Winfrey
Stephen King
Tim Allen
Hunter S. Thompson
Angelina Jolie
Robert Louis Stevenson
Steven Tyler
Robert Downey, Jr.

There are others (like William Burroughs, Eric Clapton, Grover Cleveland, David Crosby, Arthur Conan Doyle, Isadora Duncan, Ulysses S Grant, Abbie Hoffman, Elton John, King George V, Larry Kudlow, Sir Paul McCartney, & Barack Obama), but I thought I'd stop at 10.

And if you post the 10,000 names of those whose lives and families were destroyed by cocaine (and not by the pointless drug laws or its illegal status) by the end of the week, I'll take your point.

"use drugs" and "use cocaine" are extremely different things. I'm sure in your statement you intentionally and covertly implied cannabis.
However, having said that, for every "highly intelligent" person that you'd show me who encourages the use of cocaine, I'll show you 1000 more that had their lifes and families destroyed by it. For every 1 "highly intelligent" person you show me that did not get addicted to cocaine, I'll show you 1000 more that did.

Alas, I'm ignored, so have a good cocaine-filled day, crackhead.

Lucy TRAILER 1 (2014) - Luc Besson, Scarlett Johansson Movie

Deano says...

Apparently Angelina Jolie was the first choice. Given how much fun she was in Salt I could definitely have seen that working.

Half in the Bag: Django Unchained and 2012 Re-cap

Deano says...

My vote for best film I saw this year was Dredd. Proof you can make an engaging, exciting action film which makes sense and has a strong protagonist without it being three hours long.

In the year I decided to return to the cinema I rarely saw anything that was really exciting or elevating. But I was surprised how dull and bloated some of the blockbusters turned out. Prometheus followed by Dark Knight were my main disappointments.

I saw some older films. Salt with Angelina Jolie was surprisingly fun. The Proposition with Guy Pearce is an outstanding Aussie Western which does bring me back to Django - it probably isn't as funny but I'll bet it's more powerful. It even survives having Ray Winstone.

Emma Watson is Dangerous!

Quboid says...

@ForgedReality, it is very much a "girl next door" thing. Maybe that's why people make what seems to me to be assumptions about her personality, she looks friendly, approachable and fun; but then her job is to look like something she's not. I find the girl next door look to be much more enduringly attractive than Angelina Jolie type drop dead gorgeous, but it is just a look. Calling this look cute rather than hot makes sense, but it's sexy cute. My 10 week old kitten is cute but that's a very different cute to Emma Watson!

I'm not sure what you mean with regard to @Kofi. I think he meant that men who grew up with the films and were around 12 years old when she was 12, so that's a fair enough crush - but now, as a 20 year old, they watch the first Harry Potter movie and those feelings are gone and they're left with a little girl who's cute like my kitten, not like adult Emma.
