Avengers 2: Age of Ultron - Official Teaser Trailer

RFlagg says...

Seriously! I mean we got Hulkbuster armor! The way everyone is in the room with Banner but looking away and he looks like he just did something bad... more and more hints of a possible Planet Hulk movie! Andy Serkis, in an unknown roll... (I've heard guesses as to him being Ulysses Klaw, but I don't know who that is at all but based on the pics from the comics and his back story it sounds likely). Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch... Thor grabbing Tony Stark, and Tony's statements about the path he himself started (creating Ultron rather than Hany Pym) which might hint at Civil War... so much geek going on in this trailer.

Also, Jame's Spader's voice acting was perfect.... The use of "I Got No Strings"... I'm pumped for a midnight showing myself.

What Gollum Thinks of The LOTR movies

Andy Serkis Performs Gollum's Schizophrenia

IIRC, LOTR did win some oscars tho.
But i know exactly what you're saying, character actors never get oscar love

Definitely got best movie, maybe even best director, but I do think his performance was out of this world. Not that that makes any difference on oscar planet

THE HOBBIT Start of Production

Zero Punctuation: Enslaved: Odyssey to the West

entr0py says...

Yahtzee is right on about the gameplay. And that really needs to be mentioned upfront, on account of it being a game.

But there were a couple things that Enslaved did so unusually well that I couldn't help but be endeared. First, the acting was truly compelling. Both in terms of the voice acting and the very carefully done, natural and expressive animation. Monkey was played by Andy Serkis, and you can tell he worked with the developers on how to create a digital performance that seems human.

The other part I was pleasantly surprised by is the teamwork puzzles. I have such fond memories of games like the Lost Vikings and Project Eden that it's great to get a taste of that again. Unfortunately they really missed an opportunity in not going further with it, but for a couple hours it was quite fun.

I'm not saying you should buy the game, lord no. You'd need more than an 8 hour single-player game with no replayability to justify $60. But definitely rent it.

Avatar (Trailer)

Some of the video is deliberately jittery. Some people around the internets are commenting about how when the wheelchair guy gets off of the transport, it looks "so fake". Well, that's because the framerate is deliberately choppy. Compare that with other scenes later in the preview where it is silky smooth.

I think people are being overly critical with a video. I've looked at this with 1080p and my limited screens and yes, I would go so far as to say it's "photorealistic". There is a very hard line between what you call "realistic" though -- the alien critters convey some very real emotions and that might be the disconnect for some people. To say this is jar jar binks is almost insulting. Jar jar only conveyed his emotions through physical actions (jumping, hanging his head, etc) where you can actually see easy emotions on these aliens.

This isn't star trek either. Star Trek had the forehead-putty-alien of the week. These aliens are disproportionate, big eyes, foreheads that move, etc. And according to JC, this was all done in real time so the actors could really shine through much like Andy Serkis and Gollum -- but even that performance, he couldn't see his work done live.

And lets talk about James Cameron. He doesn't write the best dialogue in the world sometimes, but his stories are really solid. After Terminator, T2, Aliens, True Lies, The Abyss (his cut)... those are practically geek anthems, often imitated, truly unique.

This is a teaser, don't forget it. I see some true possibilities of continued greatness here. It is definitely not star trek or star wars .. no forehead alien or bland lifeless CGI.

I can't wait until December.
