Adrian's Avatar Spectacular! (Art Talk Post)

Oh yes, I've seen many of her videos...It is simply amazing how easily it just flows out of her!

Heh..if you would have searched that first, you would have seen her work is original (*grins* sorry, couldn't resist!)

Just a video I found on youtube of her doing a painting. Not only was she painting a face completely from memory/imagination. She was just sitting on a couch with the canvas on her lap. You can find it pretty easily if you search.

These are all original paintings. No pictures involved. She usually does oil on wood.

I guess what I mean is, some of them look as if they were painted over pictures. Some of them even look like photoshopped pictures. They wouldn't be any less impressive or cool if they were. Art is created in an infinite number of ways.

Fusionaut had an excellent idea to post the avatars I've used so far into a clever little gallery.
I love giving artists more exposure, which is most of the reason why I joined this wonderful Siftworld.
Leave it to the Cosmonaut of Thought to add an art gallery to the Sift, eh Dotcomrades?

"Ridicule is the only weapon which can be used against unintelligible propositions. Ideas must be distinct before reason can act upon them; and no man ever had a distinct idea of the trinity. It is the mere Abracadabra of the mountebanks calling themselves the priests of Jesus."

-Thomas Jefferson, letter to Francis Adrian Van der Kemp, 30 July, 1816

Personally, I'm fed up with having the same f'ing argument with creationists over and over again, blowing their pathetic arguments out of the water, and having them still desperately scramble to make any and every lame excuse as to why they shouldn't stop believing in their fairy tales. F@#k creationists. I'm done trying to have reasonable conversations with the unreasonable.

^Thank you, Adrian Veidt.

I'm touched that you think I'm comparable to a superhero/supervillain, even if he was a left-wing straw man to be torn down by a right-wing cartoonist.
Seriously though, you seem to have bought into this idea that actually learning about stuff is for suckers, because everything in life is intuitive, and never requires more than a couple simple aphorisms to explain.
For example, right wing economics: Debt bad, strong currency good, unions bad, low taxes good, non-defense spending bad, free trade good, regulation bad.
All of those things are wrong at least some of the time, based on any actual objective look at economic history.

I'm not interested in your narrative. But I'm glad you think Moore is a right wing cartoonist. He's a regular George W. Bush to you, I'm sure.

"Learning about stuff" is great; never said I had a problem with it. I just don't want people like you, who think they're smarter than the rest of the population, getting a big head and trying to plan our lives. That's exactly what you want though. That's why I call you Veidt. Because you're the worst kind of central planner. You're the kind that thinks he's smarter than everyone else.
