It also makes me tear up.

A couple of years ago, I spent a while obsessively looking up every Tim Minchin song I could find and pretty much loved them all. My husband and I sing to each other that, "I think you're special, but you fall within a bell curve."

Somehow, this is the first time I've heard this one. It made me tear up a little.

And for something completely different, when did Minchin lose his eye shadow? Isn't he afraid he might start looking normal or something?

And lest anyone take that wrong, let me assure you I'm a big fan. White Wine in the Sun became my favorite Christmas song the very first time I heard it.

Tim Minchin Explains His Wifes Sense Of Humour

Stormsinger says...

While I appreciate Minchin's songs, especially White Wine in the Sun, I find him to be much funnier when he's just talking, like this clip. Perhaps because he's easier for me to understand when he's not singing. Even talking, I find it hard to hear his words...I don't think it's just the accent, it's more like he just mumbles.

But in any case, he's a funny, funny guy.

White Wine In The Sun an Atheist Xmas Song by Tim Minchin

Stormsinger says...

Honestly Max, I think that's part of the charm. And it's -definitely- part of the humor. "But the lyrics are dodgy." struck me as making as much fun of his own song as it was of the standard Christmas carols...kind of a pot-meet-kettle line. Not to mention that almost all of his songs sound that way, or at least all of them that stick in my head.

I liked it, but it really sounded like he was making it up as he went. Very talented, no doubt, but it was a bit too rambling for something that had been composed.

I love the song, but I thought it was lame to call it an atheist song. A Christmas song for EVERYONE fits it much better Merry Xmas sift.
The writer and singer of the song is an atheist and many of his songs deal with religion from an atheist view...so more accurate then lame.
