Shocker! Cannon is following behind Thomas’s pattern of accepting bribes and not reporting them by not reporting a high cost conservative judge junket trip she took last year…she didn’t disclose it at all.
She also took multiple trips in 22 that weren’t disclosed…and when caught she finally reported them but still forgot to post them on the federal website as required by law within 30 days….and was reamed about it so she can’t claim ignorance this time.
Too bad she isn’t protected from ethics rules like Thomas.

The felon went on Gutfeld (yesterday?) still whining about his debate debacle and said when the moderators fact checked him but not Harris “the audience was absolutely…they went crazy!!”….THERE WAS NO AUDIENCE DEMENTIA DON.

Waiting for the Aurora Venezuelan gang truck stop video. I know you want to post it proving the immigrant crime wave is true, just like you had to post the video that proved Haitians were eating pets.…go ahead. I’m waiting. 😂

Mark Robinson: anti-trans anti-gay gay-trans-porn loving “black Nazi” who thinks slavery should be reinstated, 10 year old accounts found and verified. Your guy.

He refused to denounce bomb threats against Springfield Ohio, saying he didn’t know enough….they are random bomb threats against schools and hospitals, what more does he need to know to denounce terrorism? Nothing more, no reasonable person needs more information to denounce bomb threats, especially when made in their name or based on their claims… unless terrorism is the point.

We now know they knew the dangerous racist Springfield rumors that have sparked so much misguided maga terrorism definitively weren’t true before they started spreading them, knew because the woman who first made the claim found her missing cat in her own home unharmed and retracted her accusations publicly before the campaign picked them up, but the lies were politically advantageous so they spread them anyway, “created the story”…also known as lying. Now he tacitly approves the terrorism he spawned. He is a terrorist leader. It is undeniable that he and his people have caused more fear, disruption, and crime in the last weeks than the entire Haitian community combined for the last 5 years.

What about the “abc whistleblower” that died in a car crash right after reporting Harris was given the debate questions (maybe through her earrings). You believe that one, don’t you? 😂

HOLY FUCKING SHEEP SHIT! Republicans in the house are actually claiming Trump left office in March 2020 to try to hide his abysmal record and how he actually left the nation reeling in Jan of 21. Too bad for them Democrats can read and remember basic dates! Nice try.

Sweet zombie Geebus…now the moron has promised to “divert water from BC to California” “just turn the spigot” with no further details…a suggestion only a moron who doesn’t understand water, rivers, maps, or gravity could even consider is possible.

HOLY CRAP!! Harris has brought IOWA into the margin of error! Under a 4% spread. In June, Biden was behind by over 18% in Iowa! Ruh-roe! Florida is now in play…so is Texas! Every time the felon or his idiot minion speak he drops 2%. Every time Harris or Waltz speak she goes up 2%.
There’s good reason for that, if only you could see through that rectal helmet you wear you would understand, but it’s closed face, just like your mind.

Because Jimmy Dore’s show says so!? Based on what “anonymous sources” said to a third party? Sources alleged to be Navy seals….divulging what would be absolutely top secret classified information that would irreparably harm America and possibly spark an active war if true, to a reporter…something only seriously anti Americans would do, not patriotic active Navy Seals. You sucker.
Or because Biden said “we will stop it” (clearly meaning with political pressures, based on agreements between Germany and America) months earlier? Yep, solid proof there.
The media is silent because they don’t bite on all the fake stories righty nutjobs on the internet fantasize about. Derp.

Hayes: NRA "Good Guy With A Gun" Theory Failed In Real Time

newtboy says...

No. It would not, imo. Mass shootings don’t help their positions.
Definitely not helpful to them if it sparked real political change.
It would only be “winning” for them if an armed civilian stopped the attack, but they don’t allow armed civilians at their events where they rally for the rights of any civilians to be armed anywhere but their events.
Edit: also, I don’t mind them “winning” if it means sensible gun laws that bar violent criminals and mentally unstable people from buying or carrying guns. I’m not anti gun, I’m anti unregulated guns.

My hatred is not their goal. If it were, they could save their money and pro-death stances, humanity as a whole did the job for them.

Their goal is to sell more guns. They’re an industry lobbying group, not a civil rights organization.
A little blowback from their own policies is exactly what’s needed to change some political positions. They’re cowards, but so far they’ve been safe behind their security, and the money is good.
Remember, the last meaningful gun control measure, background checks, came directly as a result of an assassination attempt against a pro gun Republican.

That would mean they are still winning.

The Sparks Brothers Trailer

Let's talk about Republican reaction to the SCOTUS leak....

newtboy says...

You don’t need to be a lawyer to know that if you lie or intentionally mislead under oath, even to congress, it’s perjury.
You also don’t need to be a lawyer to know that 99.9% of undeniably proven perjury isn’t prosecuted.
I’m not a lawyer, but I grew up surrounded by lawyers and judges in the immediate family. Grandfather, uncle, and 3 cousins were lawyers, 2 of them judges….all Republicans btw. I’m no stranger to the law, thanks.
Trump lied on every question he answered under oath and nothing….but justices are SUPPOSED to be above reproach, no longer true.

(Edit; it bears noting, the petitioners claimed “ The legislature (not scientists or doctors) then found that at five or six weeks’ gestational age an unborn human beings heart begins beating“. But reality and science say “ the heart has four clearly defined chambers in the eighth week of pregnancy, but does not have fully organized muscle tissue until the 20th week” meaning it’s not a heart until 20 weeks in, so can’t possibly be a heart beating 14 weeks before there’s a heart…it’s a muscle cluster pulse, not a heartbeat anymore than a spark plug test firing is a running car.)

Did every justice in that 1954 Supreme Court say in their confirmation hearings under oath that Plessy was settled, reaffirmed precedent they respected? Was Plessy repeatedly challenged and upheld by multiple supreme courts? If not, I call red herring.

Your intentional pedantry is tiresome and uninteresting. Enjoy your beliefs. Bye Felicia.

dogboy49 said:

Your opinion about perjury duly noted. I assume that you are a lawyer, and know exactly what you are talking about. Since all of their testimony is public record, shall I expect to see the appropriate prosecutor convening a grand jury to address this crime?

Your other opinion as to "how it works" is also duly noted. I guess SCOTUS should not have overruled Plessy vs Ferguson (decided in 1896) when they heard Brown vs Board of Education (1954).

The dangers of a Russian energy superpower

newtboy says...

I disagree. Timing matters. Had the pipeline been halted in 2019, it may well have sparked this invasion years earlier when the US couldn’t be counted on to give the aid promised or oppose Putin at all, and when there was no unity in the UN or NATO.

By not halting the pipeline then, two years ago +, Germany let them invest hundreds of millions more in a project that’s now cancelled, causing far more pain for Russia.
Also, it allowed them to use the project as both carrot and stick….true that failed to stop Russia, but was a tool used to try to cajole them out of invasion, and is now a stick whacking their disabled economy.

Of course, it’s all supposition about what may have happened….but moderately informed supposition.

vil said:

Trump was right about the pipeline. There.

Except Trump being right about something has zero information value because he was wrong about so many things. Cherry picking and whataboutism only gets you so far.

Even Germany is now somewhat reluctantly coming around.

How exactly would Trump stop Putin I wonder? Any ideas beyond wild guesses?

There is no excuse for what is happening in the Ukraine now, there is no propaganda that can put this on the shoulders of anyone but Putin.

The danger in this situation is powerful people in the west are being friendly to rich russians and apologetic about the Russian regime. Business deals are less important than national safety. Being best buddy with Putin does not give Trump the power to stop him.

The simple tool that can open most US stores

newtboy says...

Unless they have intent to use them, or have knowledge that that’s what they’re made for, no? That’s what it says in the law, isn’t it?

“ Every person having upon him or her in his or her possession a picklock, crow, keybit, crowbar, screwdriver, vise grip pliers, water-pump pliers, slidehammer, slim jim, tension bar, lock pick gun, tubular lock pick, bump key, floor-safe door puller, master key, ceramic or porcelain spark plug chips or pieces, or other instrument or tool with intent feloniously to break or enter into any building, railroad car, aircraft, or vessel, trailer coach, or vehicle as defined in the Vehicle Code, or who shall knowingly make or alter, or shall attempt to make or alter, any key or other instrument named above so that the same will fit or open the lock of a building, railroad car, aircraft, vessel, trailer coach, or vehicle as defined in the Vehicle Code, without being requested to do so by some person having the right to open the same, or who shall make, alter, or repair any instrument or thing, knowing or having reason to believe that it is intended to be used in committing a misdemeanor or felony, is guilty of a misdemeanor. ”

I have this opinion, (that police (and some prosecutors) will ascribe intent to anyone in possession of any tools, even those with other uses, so they wouldn’t hesitate to do the same for tools that are clearly purpose built breaking and entering tools having been advertised as such and with no other use,) because I watched a friend be arrested in the 80’s for having a screwdriver and pliers in their backpack that the police called “burglary tools”. He did not have a history of burglary. The case was dropped when they instead charged him with <.5 grams of marijuana for some crumbs found loose in the bottom in his backpack and sent him juvie for 6 months. (I think he was on probation, I know the police wanted to charge him with anything….and did.). I was accused of having lockpicks once because I had picked up a few metal brush bits from a street sweeper in a parking lot and police saw me pick them up, arrested, then released me on site when the supervisor showed up and heard their story.

I think the last sentence of that paragraph puts him in danger, since he clearly has reason to believe at least some of the burglary tools he sells to the public are going to be used criminally.

I don’t want to see you give someone advice that could get them in serious trouble, I know you would feel terrible. You might be correct, technically without intent to commit a crime they’re legal to own, but in reality police and prosecutors decide your intent and I don’t trust them one whit.

eric3579 said:

My understanding is that it is legal for anyone to purchase and possess lock picking tools. Seller does have to obtain info regarding purchaser, but just basic stuff.

Here are the California codes regarding such tools.

Explain why, since Republicans didn’t want a bipartisan investigation, and didn’t want the Democrats to investigate alone, why are they perpetrating this new fraud to illicitly determine the evidence against them?

Records have revealed that Republican Representative Jim Banks has been conducting his own version of a January 6th investigation, in spite of the fact that he was kicked off the Select Committee before it even began. Banks has been writing to government agencies and even tech companies, claiming to be a "ranking member" of the committee who needs access to the same materials these groups handed over to the Select Committee. This seems like a lot of fraud by Banks, who was an integral part of the big lie that sparked the Jan 6 coup attempt, so totally ineligible to investigate since he will be a witness.

The only logical interpretation is he, and may other Republicans, can’t afford to guess what the committee knows because they would implicate themselves further by denying charges no one has brought against them yet and corroborating evidence they don’t realize implicates them. They’re terrified that not just Trump’s, but their actions will come to light and they’ll be exposed and removed from office….and horrified that their stupidity has put them in a place where they don’t have anyone in the committee willing to leak the evidence to them.

The "someone" who thought this was a good idea is the Valparaiso GOP.
Asked for comment on the backlash, the chairman said "I think we hit it spot on", "they all liked it".
Talk about tone deaf. You hit the towers spot on, eh? That's definitely what your float is about.

This seems a lot more like celebrating the attack than remembering the victims.

Chicago Cop Abandons Woman Being Threatened With A Gun

newtboy says...

You have to make a Hell of a lot of assumptions to come to that conclusion. 1) that he has no camera. 2) that the victim/witness wouldn't be believed. 3) that physical evidence wouldn't prove it was a good shooting. 4) that there weren't other cameras.
It's possible, but not the most likely outcome. Abandoning a black woman leaving her to be murdered on camera is FAR more likely to spark riots and accusations that he would have stayed and protected a white woman.

Edit:police scanner traffic does provide some information. A dispatcher indicates that a man “pointed the gun at (a) mother and (a) father multiple times” and was in the stairwell when police were called.
It should not have been a surprise when the responding officer encountered a man with a gun.

3 people are killed by police every single day. There aren't riots every single day over it. It's not an honest position to claim every time a black man is shot by police it's cause for a riot. That's total nonsense intended to delegitimize a legitimate movement against inappropriate police violence...that's not ALL police violence. Sometimes police violence is necessary...just not >half the times it's used, and usually not to the extent (like shooting someone 142 times).

There's a middle ground between swat teams going in shooting over a nonviolent mental health call and a cop abandoning a victim to run like a coward from an armed attacker.

Maybe if he shot, but not to kill, outcomes could be better....or tried non lethal methods first. Maybe if he followed policy and didn't go to a domestic violence call alone. The one thing certain to not work is turning his back (probably making his vest useless) and running away from the victim and armed attacker. That put him at the most danger of being shot in the back and her being murdered, and it violated his oath, and it indicates black victims won't be protected.

olyar15 said:

But did he know he was on camera? Did he have a bodycam? The only reason the suspect was seen on camera holding a gun was because the cop backed away. If he had drawn his gun and fired the moment he saw the suspect holding the gun, it wouldn't have been caught on that camera because the suspect was still in the room. Then you would have a situation of only eyewitness testimony. And you would have riots.
