Joe Rogan & Lou Dibella debate UFC vs. Boxing

mentality says...

>> ^NordlichReiter:

You show me a MMA fighter that can do this:

You don't watch much MMA do you? Watch Anderson Silva vs Rich Franklin 2 or Anderson Silva vs Forrest Griffin.

Also, MMA would be much much more effective in a street fight than boxing, because it encompasses a much larger subset of what can happen in a street fight. Brazilian Jiujitsu, not sport Brazilian Jiujitsu (there's a big difference) was designed for self defense.

Here, I found some clips for you:

And at 3:50,

How to kick the shit out of somebody

High kicks are soooooooo easy to counter. You would get owned if you tried to use one in a real fight instead of this show-off martial arts bullshit.

You've got to be joking. Tell that to anderson silva. There are many people in the real world who, in a real fight, could pound you into the floor with high kicks and there'd be nothing you could do about it.

Me or you couldn't pull it off in a real fight. But we're not experts.

US Congress accidentally destroys Samoan Economy

@<A rel="nofollow" href="http://www.videosift.com/member/rougy" title="member since June 3rd, 2007" class="profilelink">rougy: You are so ignorant, I don't even know where to begin. I'm honestly puzzled. Are you confusing "conservative" with "capitalist"? That would explain why you think it impossible for a liberal (translation: communist?) to exploit the poor. Or do you think that being a liberal has nothing to do with, you know, actually being a liberal? I posted a reference demonstrating enough as such - I note you have nothing but baseless statements on your side.
>>Wow, conservatives give more pennies to the poor.
Even the poorest conservatives tend to give to charity. But even the richest liberals tend to not. Look up how much Obama gave before the public spotlight was shined on him.
Have you ever actually studied capitalism in the 3rd world? Idiots like you (who come in fighting for a "living wage") are universally detested by the actual people you are trying to "help".

And you're the one who's saying that more of the same corporatist bullshit that had 48% of Samoans living without enough food to eat is a good idea.

You're the one who equated Disney with Eisner.

You're vomiting the bile force-fed to you by some emasculated econ professor in some effete business program.

Your examples and metaphors are so obtuse that to even respond to them is an exercise in futility.

You have never bothered to look at this on your own; you're just saying what you've been taught to say by authority figures who had agendas of their own.

I'm with Chavez, da Silva, and Morales all the way.

Structuring a society around the demands of corporate power will lead to, and maintain, poverty faster than any other economic method we know.

Corporations do not "invest" in countries in order to help the people there; in fact, institutions like the IMF and the WTO invest in countries for he purpose of undermining the people there and exploiting their resources, period.

UFC 94: Lyoto Machida vs Thiago Silva

Still, it's always interesting when 2 undefeated go head to head. I had only recently gotten into MMA when this fight took place, so I'd never even heard of Silva at the time. I only knew of Machida because my friends were fans.
I agree that he did not "win" the fight with Shogun. He might have had more points due to some technicality, but he was dominated for pretty much the entire 5 rounds. They meet again in May and I expect a much better showing by Machida then.
I really enjoy watching Machida fight and don't think he's overrated at all. If anything, I think he's under appreciated.

I don't think Machida is under appreciated since he is usually ranked in the top 10 pound-for-pound fighters in most MMA publications. ie: http://www.sherdog.com/news/rankings/Sherdogcoms-Pound-for-Pound-Top-10-21720 (Great site btw, just steer clear of the forums)

Also, Shogun was a brilliant fighter back in the day, but experienced a series of injuries and setbacks and spent a considerable period away from the sport. Shogun has only recently begun his comeback, and the improvements from his Mark Coleman fight to his Machida fight is just amazing. I think it's Shogun who will be back in May stronger than ever, but in any case it's going to be an awesome event.

Yeah both Silva and Machida had 13-0 records, but Machida had a much more impressive resume of opponents. I still think Machida is overrated though, especially considering his last "win" over Shogun was one of the most controversial decisions in MMA history. Stupid when the judges are there because of politics and not because of their MMA experience and knowledge.

Also, Machida drinks his own urine.

Samurai pulls off fastest submission in history -whole story

Aniatario says...

Thats ridiculous! Silva's always been right next to invincible, make no mistake the mans got great striking skills and great groundgame, just the fact that he went down in seconds is baffling.

Also, its interesting to notice that out of the 4 losses within his MMA career 3 of them have been made by Japanese fighters. The only other being Luiz Azeredo, a fellow Brazilian.

KUCINICH wants to re-examine the Federal Reserve

J-Rova says...

He's questioning why the government gave up the ability to control the money supply. Check Brazil for an example: http://ipsnews.net/news.asp?idnews=31560. "While the inflation targeting policy was initially adopted by the previous administration, it has been taken to extremes by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's economic team since he took office in 2003, say his critics." If the Fed's job was instead carried out by people in political office, the U.S. economy would get turned inside out and upside down every political term. And if you want "checks and balances," The Federal Reserve consists of an entire board - not just Ben Bernanke. Despite the fact that the economy is beyond complex (every action has both good & bad consequences, which are incredibly far-reaching), the Fed knows what it's doing. Any politician who tries to challenge the independence of the Federal Reserve loses whatever he was running for. It is believed that this is why Bush Sr. lost to Clinton, because he pressured the Fed for lower interest rates (which is a BIG NO-NO), as you can see in the following link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rX_q2iPvyvY

Hence, the guy in the video above is a nobody - anyone with background in economics knows that he sounds uneducated, possibly even ignorant.

I'm done here.

Brutal Pride Knockouts

legacy0100 says...

Man I loved PRIDE!. I don't like the way octagon is designed. Looks too cramped in there or something, and the rules are different.

There were some accusations of PRIDE fighters taking stimulants before fights. Example being Wanderlei Silva.

BTW, how can I download their 'theme' music, including individual fighter's custom ones?

p.s. New fight coming up between Some Korean dude vs Emilianenko Fedor. It's gonna be one sided match I would assume.
