Hi blackfox!

Ah, I think you may have found an old link. In the olden days, channels were on subdomains like that (comedy.videosift.com), but later they were all put on the main domain (videosift.com) which is where our SSL certificate is.

The talk for Comedy is here:
https://videosift.com/comedy/talk

Thanks!

Heya Lucky.

FYI apparently my browser doesn't like channel talks.

I was trying to remember where the page was that had the channel descriptions, and tried the talk page to see if it was there.

Instead of comedy talk ( https://comedy.videosift.com/talk ) I got this - "Warning: Potential Security Risk Ahead. Websites prove their identity via certificates. Firefox does not trust this site because it uses a certificate that is not valid for comedy.videosift.com. The certificate is only valid for videosift.com.

Error code: SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN"

Beyond The Crash - The Worst News Of Your Life

BSR says...

About 2 years ago I was in NJ to help take care of Dad who was in his final days. While there I was able to help my brother who has his own funeral home. He also had a contract doing body removals for the medical examiner.

Got a call about 2 am for a fatal wreck on Interstate 80 which involved a single vehicle with 3 females. When we got to the scene investigators were just finishing up and we were ready to remove the bodies.

The vehicle was estimated to be traveling 70 to 80 mph when it left the Interstate and went into the median and slammed straight on into a tree impacting on the passenger side.

The driver was airlifted to the hospital. We had to remove the front passenger and rear passenger side body.

The front passenger side dash of the car was pushed up to the front seat. The passenger in the back seat was probably 250+ lbs. and apparently wasn't wearing a seatbelt. She was thrown forward and broke the front seat from the floor thus impacting the front passenger from behind.

At this point the scene was about 3 hours old. As we were removing the last body we heard one of the girls cell phone start to ring. It kept ringing off and on until we left 20 minutes later.

The police told us they found a sonogram picture in the wallet belonging to one of the girls. It was 3 weeks old.

When we arrived at the M.E. which is at the same hospital the driver was flown to, they were just bringing the driver to the morgue also. All 4 were back together.

When that phone rang that night all I could do is think that whoever it was, they only had a few more minutes of peace left before their life would be changed forever.

CBC Embeds Not Working?? (Sift Talk Post)

Why Brutalism is the hottest trend in web design

lucky760 says...

It seems CBC doesn't support SSL, so their content can't load on our secure pages.

Their server accepts the secure request but then it redirects the request to the insecure version of the URL.

@dag and @lucky760 -- help please?

At least my old web pages are simple and light -- friendly to slow connections.

Thanks mxxcon - we have been using that tool and it's been some help. We think it's something with og:image and ssl.

Fecesbook has open graph testing tool where you can see exactly what they see https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug
I don't use fecesbook, so this is simply speculation on my part.
Perhaps this is an issue with og:image and og:image:secure_url open graph tags?
Since VideoSift is now SSL, maybe it makes sense to remove og:image:secure_url tag and only use og:image with https:// url? If people go to the site using http://, they can still access https:// links.
I checked https://videosift.com/video/elia-the-worlds-most-frustrating-work-of-art using http://iframely.com and http://opengraphcheck.com/ and both show correct thumbnails.

I'd also like to point out that guys are not gzip'ing CSS and JS resources.

That's not entirely true that you heard nothing back. I responded to you on your profile the first time you mentioned it. We know it's a problem and we've been discussing it. If it was an easy fix that we knew how to fix ... it would be fixed. I find it annoying too.

We had to go to SSL because of browser changes that Google made to Chrome - this is an unfortunate side-effect. We've tried a few things to fix it to no avail ... but we'll get there.

I addressed this issue privatley with the powers that be a week ago and have heard nothing back regarding a possible resolution. @lucky760 @dag

Any sifter out there have an idea for a potential fix of this issue? Possibly has something to do with SSL as it seems to have coincided with its implimintation https://videosift.com/talk/SSL-Now-Enforced-Site-Wide
