LAPD Intentionally Sets Off Huge Bomb In A Neighborhood

newtboy says...

So, the LAPD intentionally overloaded the containment system maximum by 1.5 lbs of explosives, and the safe load by 6.5 lbs…but since they can’t count they really put in nearly 3 times as much as they thought….then couldn’t figure out how it exploded!?!
Er mer gerd!

And now, suddenly, after admitting they thought they put 16.5 lbs of explosives in it, they say it’s capacity was 25 lbs, but for weeks and weeks they officially said it had a maximum capacity of 15lbs, but they only put 10lbs in it. Another case of the LAPD rewriting history and their story to escape responsibility. They never hit Rodney King too…he received minor injuries by falling while resisting arrest, remember?

"Bomb technicians estimated the weight of the explosives to be about 16.5 pounds, but when the ATF National Response Team conducted an investigation following the blast, their total net explosive weight was just over 42 pounds, according to Moore."

Here We Go Again...Rodney King Style Beating In SF

My_design says...

If you are a cop in an extended high speed chase after a guy in a stolen car and then you catch him, I can see where the adrenaline will push you over the edge. It doesn't excuse the behavior, but I have trouble falling asleep after 30 minutes of playing Battlefront I'm so amp'd up. I can't imagine being in their shoes.

Also, this isn't Rodney King. Rodney King was dragged out of his car and beaten for being black. This man ran from the cops in a stolen vehicle and almost killed 2 of them. Whether the color of his skin came into play we can only speculate and review the record of the officers involved. My suspicion however is that if he had been white he would have gotten about 1/2 the beating he took.
Either way, the officers involved were wrong. They are not judge and jury. Seems like some cops in this country have forgotten that. But there are still a lot of good ones.

To be honest, if I film something spectacular the news wants to show (in between their commercials), I want my cut. Exceptions could be made for genuinely non-profit news outlets of course, but I don't believe for a second that applies to the major network news outlets.

I'd also, of course, be happy to provide it to law enforcement, the NTSB, FAA, or whoever needs it for official reasons or evidence.

edit: I suppose there is also a "public good" angle. I wouldn't, for instance, charge for something like the LAPD beating on Rodney King, nor would I be inclined to just hand it over to the LAPD themselves, internal affairs or otherwise. That's a special case though, and today we have things like Youtube.

Final thought edit: Come to think of it, I find this depressing. My media news pretty much comes exclusively from NPR, the BBC, PBS and Al Jazeera, and this is a good illustration of why. They're certainly biased, but at least they're trying rather than towing some company line dictated by commercial pressure.

How I got onto this rant based on a cool video of two planes crashing in mid air without anybody getting seriously hurt is a bit of a mystery though. I must be in one of those moods.

This is some Rodney King shit here.
Unfortunately, so many large cities (like artician here points out) have so many cops off the chain that this has become common-place thanks in large part to homeland security upgrades to civil liberties post 9-11. The shit is broken, and uniformed thugs are given free reign to smash skulls and destroy lives by turning humans into recycling by placing their names into the NET as "felons" or "suspicious" or "terrorist"

Note to the computer chair enthusiasts (oh, and members of Videosift who are law enforcement or former law enforcement??) who have the loop running constantly in their minds when they see something like this video that belches, "Well, if they weren't breaking the law" or, "cops were just doing their job" etc., yer fucking out of touch with the reality that is being created for you while you SLEEP, or, yer simply out-of-touch cunts who are still in the "good-ole-boys" club of the mind.

All these cops should be suspended without pay and crucified. Period. Don't care if the suspect was a fucking dead baby-skull rapist, these cops used extreme force to subdue and otherwise KILL this guy.

What you are witnessing is state-sanctioned attempted murder by a gang of thugs iwth ill-fitting uniforms and too many lethal toys. Petty, fucking thugs who need to be separated from the rest of the human population. Especially that fat piece of shit with the tazer...the thug with the club needs his own cell..The hotbox in solitary for about a year would be perfect.

My point is really not that hard to get but I suspect I won't be able to get any further with you on this. When someone makes reference to the "the incredible RISE in police violence" I'm interested in knowing whether they have done their homework and actually studied the subject or not, and can offer something more to the discussion than some college kid painting protest signs.

And I pretty much got my answer in your post:
"No studys that I know of, it is a fairly recent phenomenon". The Rodney King beating happened in 1991, was that too recent a phenomenon to be included in any study?

One last time, a rise in the number of videos you can find of police brutality on YouTube is not the same thing as a rise in police brutality. I've seen plenty of videos of police brutality all over the internet and television for years, they enrage me just like anybody else. But if you think it's a fairly recent phenomenom that's on the rise because it's trending on the internet I wouldn't know what else to say to you.

>> ^ulysses1904:
Are there any studies you can cite documenting the "issue of the incredable (sic) rise in police violence"?
>> ^Buck:
Then there's the issue of the incredable rise in police violence too.

No studys that I know of, it is a fairly recent phenomenon. Start looking around you, can't imagine people not seeing it.

Doesn't Alex Jones produce InfoWars?

No wonder the video starts with " before the Rodney King incidence, police brutality was rare".

They even used footage of that off duty MATA Security Guard boxing a shitting knucklehead that may or may not have been harassing a young woman.

He's like Glenn Beck but more libby.

The po po in Cali are shell-shocked forever after Watts Riot, Compton's Cafeteria Riot, Sunset Strip curfew riots, the Berkeley riots, the White Night gay riots, the 92'Los Angeles riots(Rodney King),the Staples Center/Championship riot, the 2000' Riots in Santa Cruz~

Anaheim Police, afraid to be added to the list sought to quash a potential mob with rubber bullets and puppy-dogs. Hmmmm....all that got burned was a trash dumpster? Shit man, these folks looked predominately Hispanic which is probably why it never escalated into burning down homes and businesses in the immediate area....Pride of ownership and respect for personal property.

Can We All Just Get Along? For The Kids & Old People? RIP

Yogi says...

Ya know I was a kid when the riots broke out and I had to miss a Birthday party because we were too scared in our homes of the riots in SoCal. I've heard everything about Rodney King my whole life, people telling me this and that, making jokes about it news articles and such. I read a BBC article on the day he died and they said that as a result of the beatings he suffered brain damage. No News Channel or article I've ever read has ever mentioned that, almost like they were trying to sow distrust of this guy who's whining about the cops beating him.

I even compared the BBC article with the Associated Press article, no mention of brain damage just a graphic description of the beating. I guess they don't understand that a stupid racist decision can have long term effects.
