The Matrix - Twilight Zone 1985

Fountain shaped like a heeeeEEEE WHAAAAAT!?

bareboards2 says...

I went looking and found this. It seems like this video is indeed *timeshift. That is how I read it.

"What possessed Paychex (or whatever company before them) to put a monstrous, rotating metal head in front of the building, I will never know, but it is cool. Even better is the fact that the head is made up of bunches of little platters. Unfortunately, what looks like perhaps fifty tiny platters do not spin - only the larger "bundles" of platters (four or five of them).

This means that the forehead and the nose can be pointing in different directions at times. It seems to happen - roughly - every fifteen minutes or so, and the head points generally in compass points in relation to the building behind it, but it does not necessarily go around those points, stopping at each in order (like dealing a deck of cards).

Instead, it seems to follow you. We had an impromptu picnic, and the head pointed away from the building. But when we were sitting on the steps, it turned to look at us, in a disjointed way. Then we went to the side and it reconfigured (to its normal state) and looked in that direction. Then we went back to the steps and it turned that way. Eventually we got used to it, until we went to leave and the head turned and in its cross-plattered way, it turned to look at us, as if to ask us not to go. That was a bit creepy."

Now that I go back and read your comment again, I see I mis-read it and shouldn't have downvoted. My bad.
I too have served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and my tour in Iraq was no picnic. For several years, I wanted to be a cop, and I would still like to, but I have come to realize though introspection and professional help that constant mortaring has re-wired my brain to the point where I should not be a police officer. It has left me with an extremely short temper, and that would most definitely lead to no good. I can only hope that others in my position do the same.

And yes, for the record, I do believe that all capable persons have a moral obligation to help when possible.

Hey Marinegunrock, you have a right to downvote my comment, and I have no problem with that. Still, I would like to explain a bit about my comments---because I think you might have the wrong impression (I tend to fuck up on expressing my thoughts.)
Soldiers and Marines returning from overseas have two types of medals. Those they wear on their chests, and those they wear in their minds. They live life on the edge in a warzone. I don't remember a day my unit wasn't mortared over in Iraq--but I served nevertheless. That does not mean I, or other servicemen, adjusted well upon return... And they certainly were not ready for a career in law enforcement!!!
However, instead of wearing this mental medal proudly, instead of saying, "I am a motherfucking Marine or Soldier, I have issues," people are saying, "Hey, I went through hell and came back flawless. Love me please."
Just because we are heroes doesn't mean we are right in the brain my friend. You have to be wrong in the head, or you don't survive--or you get others killed...

Don't worry Marinegunrock, for every one good comment out there---there are one-million ignorant comments. In other words, in a world of trolls, it takes a constantly keen eye to tell between the shit and the diamonds. Hell, I don't even have half the time, so I learn the people when I can... In fact, that's why I explained myself to you---because I can see you post reasonably.

I am greatly impressed that truth matters to you more than blind-emotions Marinegunrock; I am honestly impressed. Few people would admit any problems anywhere, and that's why we as people, and this country, have so many--we break em, but we don't attempt to solve them.

Hi, my name is Robert, and I'm an ex Mormon.

SDGundamX says...

As an ex-Mormon, I'm going to do something a bit weird and quote myself from 2 years ago when this topic came up. I wish the guy in this vid had talked more about his reasons for leaving; I would have been interested to hear more about why he thinks their church is not honest or why it doesn't have integrity. Original comment posted for this video.
>> ^SDGundamX:

I was a Mormon for several years (lived in a rural area, was the closest church in town until I was about nine and a new Presbyterian church was built closer). I have to say I'm a bit confused at all the hate that's delivered towards them. Of all the churches I ever attended (and I attended lots as a kid), theirs had the most caring and active community I've ever seen. If you were sick, church members were there the same day with food and asking what they could do to help. They had lots of great family activities all year round, such as picnics and camping trips.
But what impressed me the most about the Mormon church is that they basically taught me the morals I hold true today. They didn't just teach the kids in Sunday school not to lie because "God says so." They explored the consequences of things like lying and stealing. We'd do role-plays where they'd make us think about the consequences our actions had on other people. Like, for instance, if you shoplifted a toy you really wanted, how would the toy store owner feel? How would he feed his family if people kept stealing the stuff in his shop? The fire-and-brimstone Christian churches I later attended never impressed me much with their Bible beating compared to this style of teaching.
This is not to say Mormons aren't without their flaws. In some ways, they do resemble a cult. When my family left, they hounded us for years trying to "save our souls" and get us to come back. They would just show up unannounced at our house or call at random hours. It was more annoying than anything else.
Another downside was the whole proselytizing thing--I distinctly remember being told as a child that if I wanted to be able to play with my friends in heaven that I'd have to convince them to become Mormons too. Otherwise I wouldn't see them there. To put that into perspective though, my Dad's priest (he was Catholic as a kid) told him the same thing about his Protestant friends back when he was a kid. The Mormon religion hasn't got a lock on the conversion market by any means.
All things considered, I find the Mormon religion to be relatively harmless. Yes, they believe in some odd things like the Book of Mormon, but at the end of the day, unlike a lot of self-proclaimed Christians, I found the Mormons to do more than just give lip service to their values and actually practice what they preach.
