The Picasso 30 seconds in is the stuff of nightmares, and there are a few close contenders later.

I suddenly have a masochistic impulse to watch Ring.

I Could Do That | The Art Assignment

dotdude says...

Picasso and the moderns were excited about art produced by children. They even collected art by children. The idea was to celebrate the creativity in works by children.

One article I read, about the Moderns, showed a composition by a child and then the same composition used by an adult.

At age 14 Picasso showed that he could handle realism. So the rest of his career was marked by phases including child-like imagery.

This Picasso-esque painter followed my on YouTube. He might inspire you guys: https://www.youtube.com/user/raeart

One Man’s Odyssey Through an Iconic Cookbook

ChaosEngine says...

I don't disapprove of what he's doing at all.

While we're quoting Picasso,

learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist

He's honing his craft here and it's incredibly impressive.

And that's all well and good (and yes, his kitchen is epic), but it's not an "odyssey to the heart of creativity" (from the youtube description).

Good artists copy, great artists steal.

He journeyed though the cook book to learn the artistry of Culinary Arts from a master using the masters tools, his recipes. He did not go through the book to learn how to create new dishes.

Armed with the knowledge he gained from the journey he can now go on to create his own dishes inspired (copied or stolen) from the recipes he so painstakingly recreated in a home kitchen I would give my left arm for.

George Carlin "I Gave Up On My Species"

kevingrr says...

@enoch

This has nothing to do with how I feel about myself or how you feel about yourself. It isn't about whether we are good or bad. That is not topical.

Carlin loves to say that everything is in the toilet, everything and everyone is terrible, and we are all going down.

My point is while it is important to point out our failings, of which I admitted there are many, things ARE getting better incrementally over time.

This guy telling his kids they are terrible is an idiot. You don't need to tell your kids that their finger paintings are picasso. Just educate them and help them to aspire to be conscientious good people.

Can Blind People Draw?

*promote the sense of humor.

This reminds me of art class in 7th grade, where we had to look at the model, keep our pen on the paper, and never ever look down.

I was a much more interesting artist when my conscious brain got out of the way. All of us were Picassos!

Rotten Tomatoes - Did Tarantino Steal Reservoir Dogs?

Trancecoach says...

It's only stealing if you get caught.. and by "caught," I mean, prevented from making the movie..

So, this is what's called an homage.

(And, btw, Tarantino has less creativity than he has shrewdness -- and that's enough to be successful.)

The Mostly Normal Show Presents: The Outing of a Joke Thief

Trancecoach says...

"Good artists borrow, Great artists steal" ~ Picasso
(also quoted by Steve Jobs, and others).

You know who was widely known for stealing jokes back in the day?
Robin Williams.

You know who else?
Steve Martin.

It's only wrong if you get caught... and I guess in the age of cell phone cameras and youtube, it's not as easy as it used to be.
