I'm surprised more people aren't talking about this. I hope they take the opportunity to change the tone of the show a bit. I really like Peter Capaldi but half his episodes were just badly written.

It's a shame that couldn't have been the character. I don't think I like Peter Capaldi as the Doctor all that much... not necessarily the choice of the man himself, but the character is too much like Peter Davison's Doctor, which is my least favorite of the Doctors (excluding those whose existence I discount entirely). Maybe he'll grown on me more, but Capaldi has the wrong mixture of goofy and serious in his character.

A *really* aggressively, over the top curmudgeon but with a bit of depth would have been more interesting and funny.
