A Letter from HELL!

Why does God create people to not believe in him, and then punish them for it?

God created people and gave them the ability to make choices. It's up to us to make the right ones.

I can't wait to watch this... being born into a Catholic family & having spent 4 years in a strict catholic school (at a young and impressionable age, no less) this is sure to bring back horrific memories of being accosted by nuns with metal tipped yardsticks and rulers.

First 5 Minutes of The Golden Compass Movie

Krupo says...

The key difference between Compass and Potter is that Rowling has, as far as we know, written an amusing book for its own sake.

Pullman, Compass author, is another kind of author altogether.

While the "anti-Church" thing as described in the quoted article I'm going to share with you doesn't really mean I'll skip a movie if it's amusing, I heard it got 1 star out of 5 in some reviews, so I'm going to instead avoid it because of 'teh suck.'

Aside from highlighting the anti-religious propaganda, the third paragraph is also useful because it explains what the heck is going on in this clip.

The movie has been described as "atheism for kids"
and is based on the first book of a trilogy entitled "His Dark
Materials" that was written by Phillip Pullman. Pullman is a militant
atheist and secular humanist who despises C. S. Lewis and the
"Chronicles of Narnia". His motivation for writing this trilogy was
specifically to counteract Lewis' symbolisms of Christ that are
portrayed in the Narnia series.

Clearly, Pullman's main objective is to bash Christianity and promote
atheism. Pullman left little doubt about his intentions when he said
in a 2003 interview that "my books are about killing God." He has
even stated that he wants to "kill God in the minds of children". It
has been said of Pullman that he is "the writer the atheists would be
praying for, if atheists prayed."
< BR>While "The Golden Compass" movie itself may seem mild and
innocent, the books are a much different story. In the trilogy, a
young streetwise girl becomes enmeshed in an epic struggle to
ultimately defeat the oppressive forces of a senile God. Another
character, an ex-nun, describes Christianity as "a very powerful and
convincing mistake." In the final book, characters representing Adam
and Eve eventually kill God, who at times is called YAHWEH. Each book
in the trilogy gets progressively worse regarding Pullman's hatred of
Jesus Christ.

There is nothing wrong with a little long term thinking Gunrock. Some of our previous efforts in 'regional stability' have resulted in the rise of Saddam and Osama and the deaths of many hundreds of thousands (probably a whole lot more) innocent civilians.

Short term goals are important, but without long term thinking, you get the disastrous FP of Reagan and Bush. (Google Reagan's relationship with Osama and Saddam for anyone in the dark on this.)

As an aside, Republicans are allowed to support world peace too you know. Just because the lefties say potato doesn't mean you have to say paTAHto (or would that be potatoe?).

Faux News has tried to label the left anti-war, but the reality of the matter is that most of us are merely anti-short-sighted-poorly-planned-war.

Revolutionary war? Sure. Civil? Had to do it. WW2? Natch. Vietnam? bzzzt. Nicaragua? No dead nuns for me thank you. Iraq? Not so much. Iran? It couldn't get much more short-sighted-poorly-planned than that.

Nintendo Zapper video from E3 2007

Abel_Prisc says...

I'm a Wii owner, and was excited for both the Zapper and RE:UC.

However, I've read from more than one source that the Zapper is extremely uncomfortable to hold, and feels unnatural. A good example of this would be how they're holding it in the video. The natural/more common way to hold your wii-mote and nunchuk would be with the nun-chuk in the left hand and the wii-mote in the right. However, the natural/more common way of holding the gun is with your left hand on the trigger (wii-mote), and the right hand using the joy-stick/nun-chuck. So when you're used to moving about with your left, you're now having to do that with your right, while your left is shooting. Very unnatural.

Also, I may be in the minority with this, but I was very disapointed to find out that the new Resident Evil is going to be a on-rail shooter. I feel it'd be wayyy cooler to make a coop wii game that's from the 3rd person and free-roaming like RE4. That'd be a lot more successful in my opinion.

The blue duck fish was great. Hated the intro ad though. Boo!

V. interesting edit - they hid most of the jokes that got cut except for the nun attacking Dilbert at the end, what a shame.
