Bessie Smith "St. Louis Blues
St. Louis Blues... Just saw this movie last night and it's incredible. The plot and acting aren't great but Eartha Kitt, Pearl Bailey (who looks and sounds just like Queen Latifah) and of course Nat King Cole as W.C. Handy make it well worth a looksee for the music alone. Ruby Dee is in it too as the "good girl" foil to Eartha's wickedness!
Nat King Cole - The Christmas Song
There are two people who's voices I envy. Orson Welles, and is thundersome booming voice , and Nat King Cole when singing.
Love it. It's like velvet on butter or something.
Nat King Cole - Sweet Lorraine - 1957
This is the version I wanted to post, but the embed was disabled... this is great:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hjz81XLIHrY
The link is to a clip from his "The Nat King Cole Musical Story". A short film in which he played himself.
Nat King Cole Trio - 1948 - excerpt from "Killer Diller"
This is a 25 year old Nat King Cole!
"excerpt#1 from the movie "Killer Diller"(1948).
In this excerpt, see the great 25 years old Nat King Cole & his Trio. Nice and smooth, always cool as he never take a look at his fingers while playing and singing. Classy !
"Killer Diller",About 70 minutes of astonishing and extremely talented jazz musicians, tappers and vaudeville comedians playing live."

Billie Holiday Count Basie Now Baby or Never
Billie Holiday helped sell my house.
I made a 5 hour play list repeating all of her best songs. I played it while my house was being shown. The kids left out cookies. I'm convinced her music sold my house. The woman raved about the cookies and music more than the house!
Her and Nat King Cole are the absolute best!
