Blimey who would have thought this could be dangerous?! India is an amazing place but just way too unregulated in so many ways.

I wish we were unregulated in such ways. I'm tired of laws that protect people from their own stupidity. Let's bring back natural selection!

I didn't even make it 3 hours in Vista (Geek Talk Post)

I like the idea of developers seriously considering more Linux support, but the idea seems quixotically romantic at best, unfortunately.

The main reason I hold back is the non-desire to create a new partition for it, and the fact that there doesn't currently feel like there's a "Killer App" kind of reason prompting me to check it out. Unlike, say World in Conflict, which you want to load and play now just because it's so much fun. Psychonauts fun.

My tone on the phone is clearly not begging, though. I'm like, yes, many dead computer components. Many replacements. How's the weather in Mumbai? Cool cool, ciao.

Funny thing: Yes, they do. As chaotic as it seems, there is an etiquette for riding the Mumbai train, and one rule is that you hold people in. Sort of like when moshing, people will help you up if you fall.

Indian song & dance: 300 (real!) dwarves and beautiful women

This is not Bollywood. Bollywood refers to Hindi language and North Indian movies based in Mumbai. This is from Kerala (South India) and not in Hindi. This language is in Malayalam (similar to Tamil). So many languages in India and many love making movies!

Duct Tape on a *(*#@ Plane (actually "Speed Tape")

winkler1 says...

"I dug up this video I shot back in December ‘04 when I was aboard an Air Deccan flight from Bangalore to Mumbai. Looked out my window and what did I see, A group of guys repairing the wing with some sort of muthafcukin’ duct tape. There’s some more repairs to the left of the one they are working on with what seems to be the same technique. Crossed my fingers, tossed back a shot of Black Label, and stayed on the flight."

Actually this stuff is "speed tape" and is rated at high speed. Lots of spirited/stereotyped comments at the author's post.

I took my 3 year old daughter to a screening of RTT, somehow conveniently forgetting about the Hobbesian view of nature and the Peckinpah style of merciless killing.

"We MUSSSTT kill the child.
{Daughter's eyes widen}
"Yessssssssss, we sssssssshhhallll kill the family."
{Daddy's eyes widen}

She has weathered it well, though, and I imagine that she will be very ready when we finally visit Mumbai.

THough this video is disturbing.

This video compares the similarities to WTC and London bombing.

Now sure, people's nature is to find patterns in nature, etc. etc.
But same creepy 'training exercises' and the same day. The security and bomb sniffing dogs were removed from both places the weekend before, etc. Both attacks led to 'Patriot Act' type legislation.

Now you throw the Mumbai bombing into the mix, and it gets very scary.
