Know Your Meme: Ancient Aliens
The History channel has really gotten bad. It's not just the alien and UFO stuff, but all the bible crap and "what is hell really like?" bs, and, recently, "what/where/who will the antichrist look like/appear/be?". Just down the shitter, like MTV. MTV doesn't play music, and History channel doesn't do history anymore.

Someone fire the fucker operating that camera.
THIS. The dude has a hands down serious and important message, and he's got an MTV cameraman and a laugh track?! Why, why, why...

Why is this in the 80's channel? It seems to me that the camera work and style it's shot in are definitely current (~2000-2010, digital, crappy MTV camera wobble, etc).
Just because something is recorded after the 80's doesn't mean it's not related to the 80's.
Yo-yo's are definitely 80's and even 90's, but I haven't seen a yo-yo in over 15 years in real life.

History Lesson for the History Channel
I guess Ill be the one to say the obvious. This concept can totally apply to Mtv as well.

Sex is no accident (always wear a condom)
Some of the best content ever shown on MTV.
Welcome to the Machine - Animated Film
I remember seeing it on MTV back in the late 80s when there was a huge PF surge due to the release of the Division Bell (which I didn't particularly care for in the end). Something really really unsettling about this video. It just creems me out for some reason and really really matches the feeling the song always left me with... just pure ennui.
pink floyd-the final cut-unreleased short film
I have a difficult time counting this album as within the Pink Floyd discography. Sure, it's the music of Nick, Dave, and Roger, but this sounds more like the aftershocks of The Wall and the fallout within the band that it precipitated.
Just as Rick and David played on Syd Barrett's solo album, "Barrett," I see this as Nick and David playing on Roger's solo album, "The Final Cut."
And while I love Pink Floyd (from Piper, to Saucerful, to Atom Heart Mother -- maybe parts of Umma Gumma -- to Meddle, to Animals, to Dark Side, to the Wall, et. al.), I have little tolerance for any of the band's solo material, including Rogers', in which I count this particular music.
I'd like to say to Roger, someday, "For gosh sakes, man, wasn't the double-album, gigantic stage show, and feature film enough to get the message across? You didn't have to try to make a sequel out of it, did you?"

Wow! I had no idea this existed. Great find, and super cool. The video really opens up the atmospheric music and personal lyrics of this material, which is otherwise some of Floyd's least accessible. The "Not Now John" segment was actually on rotation as a single video on Mtv at the time--I remember seeing it in high school. I suppose this entire short film was also shown there at least once around that time too.
BTW, Rick Wright doesn't play on this album at all--Waters fired him during the making of The Wall and did not invite him back for The Final Cut (though Wright did play at the Wall concerts). Sadly, his name should probably be removed from the tags, just as the man has now been removed from our lives. RIP. :-(
