Well I think the charges are likely to be espionage related, and I think they can easily be applied. Some documents leaked named key people in hot spots around the world, and put them and their families in immediate danger. This is the reckless part of Assange that I hugely dislike. He doesn't care what's the documents, he just feeds off the controversy. He's not an activist or journalist, he's a walking, talking egotistical, god complex.

People get extradited all the time, and not always to their birth countries. The US is currently trying to extradite a UK hacker from the UK. That's right, the UK is debating extraditing one of their own. It happens when you break laws that have international ramifications.
But even if you put all the law/jurisdiction mess aside. It doesn't help that I hugely dislike Assange. He's an egotistical, reckless bastard out to promote his own name. Secondly, I hate The Young Turks. Cenk says Assange is being extradited for "actually doing journalism". Oh fuck off Cenk, releasing a bunch of documents in their raw format, is NOT journalism. Anybody could do that.

Heard his rely about those several dozen times now. Dr Paul refutes that he wrote them. So, I have to weight that against the thrust of everything else I have heard him talk about, and accept that explanation. I don't know that it is true or not, so I have to trust my instinct, and my instinct is that he is a good and decent man, I could be wrong. The race card is frequently the card people pull out when they want to demonise someone, or sex...look at Julian Assange. I don't pretend that he is a perfect man either, it is the message I support, not the man. Thanks for the read though, but I have to rectify that against everything else I see and hear, and it doesn't measure up.

How ironic that Olbermann is complaining, indirectly, about a lack of whistleblowers.

btw, I thought this guy looked familiar so I checked out his facebook, it turns out he did a rap at a pro-wikileaks rally in Melbourne, it was part of a video that I saw here on the sift a few months back when Julian Assange was in the news for his arrest.

The show host keept interrupting Ms. Gillard whenver she gets to speak, and I find it rather annoying. On a bigger matter I happen to agree with Julia Gillard on her views of Assange. This man just loves to stir shit up and gain more attention.
Many journalist who has worked with past whistle blowers made contacts with Assange and later cut ties with him because they were was put off by his character. They often described Assange of "having his own agenda."


When it comes down to it, doesn't everyone have their own agenda?
