It's not heresy to chill whiskey fast, in fact he does it right. It's heresy if you let it sit with ice cubes longer than few seconds.

If you take a shot of whiskey, it can be cold but if you want to enjoy it long, take only enough to cover your tongue at a time, it should be just below room temperature, 15-18C. When you do it like this, you get that sweet sweat from the cubes as a last thing as the water is not really mixed with whiskey, it is smooth as hell like that.. Few drops of cold water after whiskey is one of the best things in life.

Personally, i enjoy my whiskey dry with a glass of ice water on the side. Let the whiskey reach your stomach before taking a small sip of water.. Best thing in the world.

His idea is still a good one, making ultra pure ice cubes (or spheres) for perfect cocktails. You wouldn't be drinking enough pure water to worry about, and it would mix with the alcohol before you drink it anyway, so it would not be pure H2O anymore. The lack of taste and impurities would allow it to cool and dilute your drink without changing it's taste, exactly what you want in a cocktail ice cube. Even better that, if used without alcohol (or something impure), they're technically poison! Call them 'death cubes' or 'virgin ice' and you'll have trouble keeping up with demand!

Not a fan of soft drinks, but I loved the sound of the ice cubes dropping into the glasses.

...tellin' y'all, a few ice cubes er not with 4oz & 4oz...chill the vodka, chill the brine, pour..dry Vermouth may have an edge that can't be duplicated so add it if ya will, but ya can't go wrong with, and nothing hits the spot quite like, chilly olive brine and vodka from the freezer standing stiff on her own-S'pecially after a long day at the (insert physically demanding discipline here.)

I make dirty martinis by adding 4oz vodka /4oz brine left in 10 oz olive jars saved in the fridge from making pizza at least 10 times a month-dry vermouth tastes like ass, me-a no need dat.
3 ice cubes, seal jar, shake , pour. Every time the last stuffed olive is eaten, another dirty martini is born.

I started off with MJ and the Beach Boys at age 5. Then around 2nd grade it was Vanilla Ice & MC Hammer. Then 3rd it became Ice-T, NWA, Ice Cube. 4th grade it became Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse. 5th Grade it was Kyuss, Jesus Lizard, Melvins, Nirvana. 6th grade it was local punk bands, Lookout! Records, Minor Threat, Rancid... 7th grade I delved into the heart of Legendary DIY underground punk music. Ebullition records (Econochrist, Born against, Downcast, Spitboy, Iconoclast, Los Crudos), , Gravity Records (Heroin, Angel Hair, Antioch Arrow, Clikatat Ikatowi), Dischord (Fugazi, Hoover, Rites of Spring). The list goes on and on. The next ten years were all about underground hardcore/punk/noise/power-violence/sludge/grind/doom.

Then I moved to San Francisco. LOL. I'm an Aquarius. AQUARIUS RECORDS!!!!! I still listen to some of that stuff from time to time. A LOT of it was way ahead of it's time. These kids these days can't hold a candle to genuine, innovative, raw DIY music.
