Agreed. I've read that in several different reviews, and I don't get it. ID4 just wasn't that good.

And @VoodooV, I guess people are just enjoying it? I certainly had a blast at the cinema. Sure, you could drive a giant robot through the plot holes and the main character was the least interesting part of it, but it was just so much fun, I really didn't care.

Trying to figure out why this movie is getting such good reviews. I completely admit that the movie was way better than I expected, but I still think of it as nothing special so its interesting how it's getting such rave reviews.

is it JUST that it's not a reboot or a remake? Is it because it had no previous expectations? He likes to compare it to ID4 and that does make sense because it too wasn't a reboot, and thus had no high expectations.

Is it because it's merely adequate and we were expecting much worse??

Haha, as soon as I read that article I put that exact image on my Stumble blog and VS profile. I loved ID4 overall, but that part of the movie DROVE ME INSANE. How the hell do you get a human laptop to connect to an alien spaceship? Soooo terrible.

Yep, ID4 was a fun movie to watch.

Well, while ID4 may not be a deep or complex movie, it's just great to watch for sheer enjoyment, and I think a lot of people (including myself) often forget that movies are made for that purpose. I hardly consider ID4 to be a pinnacle of scifi movies, but darn it's fun to watch!

And yeah, Will Smith having the balls to go and smack the alien pilot around after the dogfight? That definitely earns this clip a place in the collective.
