StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm - Battle Report (PvZ)

Jinx says...

As an old school protoss it makes me very sad that they are removing the iconic carrier and replacing it with such a functionally similar unit.

As a Zerg player it does make me happy to see Hydras actually being useful

Man Calls JPMorgan Chase CEO A Crook To His Face

I'm sorry my fellow sifters advocate "offing" these guys. These guys work seven days a week and they work to make a profit - just like every other business.
J.P. Morgan Chase was the go to entity to take over Bear Stearns and Washington Mutual when they failed. Why? Chase was strong enough to bear the burden.
Regarding TARP money Chase never wanted it or needed it. Link
The Dodd Frank and Consumer Protection act is a poorly written gargantuan hydra of a bill. I know this because the small community bankers I know are saying they are not going to be able to stay afloat.
My companies president - someone who I know for a fact has voted as a democrat for over 40 years - told me yesterday he will vote against Obama in the upcoming election. Why? We work in real estate and the paperwork needed to finance a project has multiplied - and with it the number of lawyers and legal hours required - that is if we can get something financed period. Good for lawyers - bad for anyone who might want to work building a new shopping center(architects, tradesmen, engineers, etc) or working there in the future.
Make the rules simple, make them fair, and enforce them effectively.

Oh Yay! Another lying apologist Fuckhead.

Waterbear's make cockroaches look like wimps

One of the first things I messed around with in my first year of Ecology.

Another toughie are the Hydra, a genus that not only has remarkable regenarative properties, but also don't seem to age. Ie, they appear to be biologically immortal. They aren't quite as "cute" as the water bear though, they are basically jellyfish with a very simple nerve net that provides some basic behaviour that allows them to feed...and not much else.

Most entertaining Zerg vs. Zerg, you'll ever watch

Nice back and forth game. Prefer it when ZvZ goes to the very very lategame with BroodLords, Mass Queens, Ultras, Hydras etc tho, but this was still a interesting display.

Anonymous Message to NATO

messenger says...

The transcription is from a different message. Here's the right one:

Greetings, members of NATO. We are Anonymous.

In a recent publication, you have singled out Anonymous as a threat to „government and the people“. You have also alleged that secrecy is a ‘necessary evil’ and that transparency is npt always the right way forward.

Anonymous would like to remind you that the government and the people are, contrary to the supposed foundations of „democracy“, distinct entities with often conflicting goals and desires. It is Anonymous’ position that when there is a conflict of interest between the government and the people, it is the people’s will which must take priority. The only threat transparency poses to government is to threaten government’s ability to act in a manner which the people would disagree with, without having to face democratic consequences and accountability for such behaviour. Your own report cites a perfect example of this, the Anonymous attack on HBGary. Whether HBGary were acting in the cause of security or military gain is irrelevant – their actions were illegal and morally reprehensible. Anonymous does not accept that the government and/or the military has the right to be above the law and to use the phoney cliche of „national security“ to justify illegal and deceptive activities. If the government must break the rules, they must also be willing to accept the democratic consequences of this at the ballot box.We do not accept the current status quo whereby a government can tell one story to the people and another in private. Dishonesty and secrecy totally undermine the concept of self rule. How can the people judge for whom to vote unless they are fully aware of what policies said politicians are actually pursuing?

When a government is elected, it is said to „represent“ the nation it governs. This essentially means that the actions of a government are not the actions of the people in government, but are actions taken on behalf of every citizen in that country. It is unacceptable to have a situation in which the people are, in many cases, totally and utterly unaware of what is being said and done on their behalf – behind closed doors.

Anonymous and WikiLeaks are distinct entities. The actions of Anonymous were not aided or even requested by WikiLeaks. However, Anonymous and WikiLeaks do share one common attribute: They are no threat to any organization – unless that organization is doing something wrong and attempting to get away with it.

We do not wish to threaten anybody’s way of life. We do not wish to dictate anything to anybody. We do not wish to terrorize any nation.

We merely wish to remove power from vested interests and return it to the people – who, in a democracy, it should never have been taken from in the first place.
The government makes the law. This does not give them the right to break it. If the government was doing nothing underhand or illegal, there would be nothing „embarassing“ about Wikileaks revelations, nor would there have been any scandal emanating from HBGary. The resulting scandals were not a result of Anonymous’ or Wikileaks’ revelations, they were the result of the CONTENT of those revelations. And responsibility for that content can be laid solely at the doorstep of policymakers who, like any corrupt entity, naively believed that they were above the law and that they would not be caught.

A lot of government and corporate comment has been dedicated to „how we can avoid a similar leak in the future“. Such advice ranges from better security, to lower levels of clearance, from harsher penalties for whistleblowers, to censorship of the press.

Our message is simple: Do not lie to the people and you won’t have to worry about your lies being exposed. Do not make corrupt deals and you won’t have to worry about your corruption being laid bare. Do not break the rules and you won’t have to worry about getting in trouble for it.

Do not attempt to repair your two faces by concealing one of them. Instead, try having only one face – an honest, open and democratic one.

You know you do not fear us because we are a threat to society. You fear us because we are a threat to the established hierarchy. Anonymous has proven over the last several years that a hierarchy is not necessary in order to achieve great progress – perhaps what you truly fear in us, is the realization of your own irrelevance in an age which has outgrown its reliance on you. Your true terror is not in a collective of activists, but in the fact that you and everything you stand for have, by the changing tides and the advancement of technology, are now surplus to requirements.

Finally, do not make the mistake of challenging Anonymous. Do not make the mistake of believing you can behead a headless snake. If you slice off one head of Hydra, ten more heads will grow in its place. If you cut down one Anon, ten more will join us purely out of anger at your trampling of dissent.

Your only chance of defeating the movement which binds all of us is to accept it. This is no longer your world. It is our world – the people’s world.

We are Anonymous.
We are legion.
We do not forgive.
We do not forget.
Expect us.

Not your grampa's Wonder Woman (Comics Talk Post)

kronosposeidon says...

If I had my way, I'd go with a look something like this or this for the Amazon princess for any TV or film project. The war skirt is reminiscent of ancient Greek and Roman armor, and in the first pic her leggings are sort of like greaves, so they could be improved some. Both her top and the skirt are made from leather, also like ancient armor, and the breastplate, tiara, and belt are made with real metal. This whole look would not be out of place for =w=, because she has worn armor similar to this in the past in the comic series. She looks pretty badass here while fighting that hydra. (The jet in the background also make the image cool.) This look I think would give her a serious appearance while still making her look feminine, and also give the audience a look that still makes them think "Yes, this is Wonder Woman."

Full disclosure: At one time I embraced the new =w= costume, but not anymore. I'm not saying I hate it, but it's been a disappointment. I liked that they were getting her out of her bathing suit costume:

As you can see, on screen it's just too hard to take seriously. So when I saw the new outfit I thought the jacket might have some practical use, like some kind of protection, and the leather pants as well. However it's worked out that in almost every fight the jacket gets torn to shreds. The pants still don't bother me too much, but I prefer the armored skirt. Guess I just don't care for jeggings. The leather-armored approach linked above would have definitely moved her out of the bathing suit while still staying connected to her history.

A million fanboys would crucify me for dissing her bathing suit if this site had a million Wonder Woman fanboys. Too bad. I know that at any given time at least 10% of them are whacking off to images like this anyway. Ha! (I'm down to once every other day. Power Girl gets the days in between.)

Forgive a new guy for his 2 centavos, but don't forget (or try to wrap your idyllic heads around) that the US has been run (into the ground) by design, by a good-ol-boy network of picked and privileged players for at least the last 100 years. So has Europe's, so have all the whitest countries' empires.

The mess the US is in has very little to do with the votes for one or the other can'tidate at this point, both parties being heads from the same oligarchic hydra. The Ultra-wealthy and their sympathetic familiars, the corporations, own you and your children, all governments and clergy, cradle to grave-

The deficit will continue to grow, wars will continue uninterrupted, as power and control become increasingly centralized, until the masses unite against the tyranny of disinformation (national media), slave-like toil, and the absurdity of the instillation of fear in order to achieve complete control through surveillance and bullshit, make-everyone-feel-cozy-and-safe laws, obligations, requirements, etc.

¡Todos despierta y huele el café!!

Sorry to read that you were shot at there señor-This is a very frightening experience even when the bullets hit nearby-Treat the experience like a lightening strike, a freak occurrence-

-Unless you did something to provoke the mystery man on the motorbike, this should not happen to you again until the gobierno collapses and anarchy or worse begins. Maybe get out of L.A.

What does feminism mean? (User Poll by MycroftHomlz)

Mashiki says...

They're all wrong. But depending on which sociology policy you're looking at they could be considered right. Depending on the theory context, than again "feminism" as it stands, has shifted heavily in the last 50 years. More so the last 20 years from it's core values to something that most women who were strong believers into a mass hydra which chews on it's own head.

Just a paraphrase of my ex to clarify a bit.

Conservative radio hosts gets waterboarded, calls it Torture

sallyjune says...

"...have to hold themselves fully accountable to the law. And that is the problem the Republicans and conservatives have"

Why do people continually make distinctions between republicrats and demicons? Party affiliation has very little to do with this issue. So what if water boarding is torture or not? For some, having to listen to people take sides with either party while discussing the politics of the United States is torture. For some, it's excruciating torture to have people who are seemingly educated, with the alleged ability to think critically, continually taking sides with one hydra's head or the other-Almost as mind-numbingly mundane as seeing video after video on the dead-horse subject of whether or not water boarding is torture.
Jesus, why not discuss whether or not the programming of a nation to take one side or the other on an issue is acceptable or healthy? Robotic media junkies with walking papers from the majority of secondary schools or universities in the western hemisphere somehow tend to become more and more self-righteous and religious in their fervor, as the geopolitical chaos becomes increasingly non-linear.

The semantics of the present day represented in a great deal of threads here on Videosift with political themes is what is torture...the English language being daily butchered to include more "newsspeak" at the sacrifice of common sense and intuition. It's painful to watch as the space on these servers is clogged with more and more armchair editorials of political events by lackeys and dupes who watch too much goddamn television.

Been lurking here for some time and and felt the need to address what should be obvious to most people satisfied with such diversion: That discussing these subjects ad-infinitum is counter-productive and a waste of brain time. Why belabor and moan while ignoring the masterful deception of news organizations in keeping the people of a nation preoccupied with simple symptoms of a greater problem-That of what is now an obvious puppet government in the U.S., and a nation whose peoples become more moronic and unable to process simple information with each new generation, who are convinced that more laws, and more prohibitions are the obvious way to repair the damage. Shut up about water boards, Gitmo, republicans and democrats, police brutality, etc already. Everyone let the shit get this way, no one is without fault. For fucks' sake, ween yourselves of the use of traditional currency for a change or learn some applicable skill to make your life on police planet a bit more comfortable and enjoyable for you and yours.
Happy to have offended the misguided sensibilities of the majority.
