Broken Nose Prank Genius - Roman Atwood

chingalera says...

Congrats Dan, on yer wife's priceless reaction-Memories made, marital bliss intact-

NOw that you've graduated, here's another prize-winner to try on unsuspecting diner patrons:

Crowded diner after 2 a.m. works, but best is Sunday after church, packed with families whilst you and your chums are having breaky..

Play with your fork while interacting with your pals by poking yourself with it, waving it about, scratching with it, etc. While you do this, folks will start to observe your slightly skewed table manners.
Get your friends attention with a "Hey guys, check THIS out.."(at this point an adjoining table will have at least one nosy woman watching you like a hawk)

Cupping a couple of maraschino cherries and a single-serving creamer in your hand, place fist up to eye and pretend to stick the fork into your eye at the same time puncturing then squeezing the creamer in your fist and sending bits of cream and maraschino cherries jetting-out (friend across from you is wearing white T-Shirt, as a backboard), all the while with no reaction from you or your friends...

You know you've done it right if at least 3 women of different parties from adjoining tables scream simultaneously and possibly piss their pants.

Works great as well for scaring the living shit outta little kids under the age of 7.

Liked the video, decided to try it on wife.

The good: totally worked.
The bad: totally got slapped.

All in all, worth it I think.

Gorilla vs. Goose

I had a great grandmother at one time with geese and they were mean. You couldn't approach them without getting bitten. Same with her roosters. She was 'old school' in a real way. Time for a big family diner? Go catch a goose, chop its head off, gut and de-feather and throw it into a pot. Disgusted me as a small child but it was always delicious.

Sorry I was mistaken - the ice-Coke machine was in Ximending (teens fashion area), but the museum was close to Taipei Train Station.

Here is a google map of where the ice-Coke machine was (not sure if it's still there).

That "old Taipei" museum was here. Unfortunately they are now closed.

Even though it's been three years since I was there (my GOD has it been that long?), I would be thrilled to see where this museum is located. My fiance and I spent one the best years of our lives living in JingMei. I took the LSAT at ShiDa Science. I miss TaiBei more than most grandmothers miss their grandkids.

In Taipei, there is a small underground museum that has old-style Taiwan (old buildings, pictures, cars, from the 1950s and before). There was even a 1950's style diner where they used the old manual machines to make shave-ice. The ice-coke machine was above ground nearby there. I have no idea if it's still there or not.

I can try to create a Google Map pushpin if you are interested.

Where in Taiwan?
In reply to this comment by spawnflagger:
I had this in Taiwan a few years ago (was only available at 1 machine, I guess was a test/demo unit). It doesn't taste exactly the same - somewhere between coke and coke zero. The ice doesn't last too long when it's >35C outside; the "fizz" (carbonation) seems to run out faster than regular bottled coke; and it costs more.

So yeah, a neat novelty item, but won't replace regular Pop/Soda vending machines.

Europe: Lost Without Christianity

longde says...

I was having dinner with a few European colleagues in London a while ago. One of them told me a story of how he was in the States, in the south, and was complementing his american colleagues on the bad guys we had rounded up.

He said, "You got Bin Ladin, you got Quaddafi, you got the pirates....who's next?"

Without missing a beat, the two Americans said,"Obama!" He was of course shocked.

The other diners asked, with jaws gaping, "Do...do you feel this way?"

"Of course not," I said, and gave them a cliff notes version of the American South.

Shows there is a chasm of perception between the states and Europe.

Hi, spent the weekend skiing. Lots of comments, and don't know where to begin.

@GenjiKilpatrick Banks are private; mortgage brokers are private; many good local hospitals are private; insurance companies are private; neighborhood associations are private. Should they be allowed to discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion?

It's not just a case of not being allowed to eat at Nazi Joe's Diner. And before you answer, there have been recent cases of some of the entities above discriminating, despite a free market existing and racism somehow being bad for business.

And this being black history month, it would be good for you to read up and realize that in the past, many non-white americans were rich and prosperous, despite what you said above.
