Japanese Woman breastfeeds her pet cat
>> ^UsesProzac:
I poured a bit of my breast milk in a bowl for my cat, curious to see if he'd like it. About fell over himself to lap it up. As soon as this gay marriage thing takes off, going to see if I can marry my cat.
>> ^dag:
Happy to discuss this one, but I despise the idea of sexualising breast feeding. Can't a woman breastfeed her cat in peace without it being a sex thing?
Did that give him diarrhea or anything? I've wondered how a cat's system would digest human milk.
The Giant Earthworm
And if you liked that, read about this 4 foot sea worm that digests fish hooks and is covered with nerve-murdering barbs!
Scientific Weight Loss Tips
This is all good info, but he misses a couple of big ones:
- Eating smaller portions 6x a day (rather than 3x): You still have to control your overall caloric intake, but spacing out your food consumption keeps you in a thermic digestive state (which burns calories) during more of your waking hours and over time has an effect on the portion you eat to feel "full".
- Tearing/Repairing Muscle: weightlifting and the associated cycle of tearing and repairing your muscle tissue burns a ton of calories. For people over the age of 35, this extra boost is nearly always necessary to counteract slowing metabolism and assist effective fat burning.
Rape in Comedy: Why it can be an exception (Femme Talk Post)
>> ^not_blankfist:
Hi everyone. This most definitely isn't blankfist.
How'r those ankles feelin' pardner? Hope the time away hasn't sullied your trousers more than ya can tolerate...What's yer take on this here "Rape" subject? Personally, I find jokes about raping women disagreeable and crude, a cheap attempt to appeal to a crowd I'd rather not be around.
I am also of the opinion that a sexual violation, if properly implemented can clear chakras, enliven digestion and overall constitution, and in some instances I would imagine initiate great renewal and calm in an individual receptive to the message.
Neighbour Catches 7-Year-Old Girl Falling from Window
Arguing about religion? That's my cue!
Seriously, both sides make valid points here; that someone who has been raised in a family/societal environment that automatically gives "God" credit for anything good and labels low-chance positive outcomes as "miracles" should say "thank God" (a common expression) and "It's a miracle" in an overwhelming emotional state is unsurprising and perfectly understandable.
On the other hand, there is a big problem with the bolded part above, and religious people using the good works of humankind (e.g. science, bravery, compassion, etc.) to support and propagate supernatural beliefs which on the whole do more harm than good.
Having been raised in an extremely religious environment, I clearly remember the excerpts of Reader's Digest and other magazines/newspapers we were read, pointing to these kinds of exclamations as just more proof for our ridiculous beliefs ("see? even the worldly papers cannot help but acknowledge God's power!"), and you can bet your bottom dollar this story has joined the billion others on Christian sites all over.
What Was That Black Goo? (Prometheus)
I rather disliked this movie. So much was going on and you were never given enough time to properly digest what is happening in any one event as it's straight onto the next bit. Yet despite all that happened, it actually felt like absolutely nothing happens in the whole movie as it just went no where, goddamn sequel baiting. You can tell this was written by one of go-nowhere writers of Lost. If they are trying to set up for a trilogy or something, this is an extremely poor way to do it. All good series have some events begin and some events resolve in each episode. This one had nothing resolved.
The characters were simply fodder with no personality, not that you were ever given a chance to really get to know them as there were no dialogue scenes of any significance, the scenes they did have were all awkward and ultimately pointless. And of course that fucking ending, it seems it's trying to tac on bits to say "this is an Alien prequel" yet it doesn't sync up with Alien at all!
The Thing did a MUCH better job at being a prequel to an old movie.
It was however, fucking BEAUTIFUL visually

Honest Movie Trailers - "Titanic 3D"
Those are all anatomically correct descriptions of you laughing yourself to shitz, but did you climactic instead of climatic? Seriously, I don't need to be rated for this comment. I am just curious...

Ah, shit--you mean they drown in the end?
IN 3D!!!!

I have to add...that these trailers are killing me. I'm fairly certain I've disconnected my esophagus from it's muscle connections to the interior and exterior walls of the chest cavity, as I'm in great pain due to my laughing. I'm certain that my vocal chords are also on the verge of spilling outward--inside out, as it were, and falling into my stomach where they will be digested as I writhe in pain; hopefully as I'm still watching more of these trailers at the moment of this horrendous, but part and parcel event that must be paid when it comes to true comedy--yet still as the just previous moment had occurred the climatic conclusion is yet to be finished--so as the video and sound trickle into my helpless mind the brute humiliating force of my laughing will be unattaching my retinas and blood vessels will begin to pop as I finally reach what comedians and entertainers aspire to instill in their audience the near opium maxim, that says that I may have a stroke at any second and die: the oxygen deprivation moment of laughing Zen. I love them, I love their trailers. So does my doctor and the hospital's chief surgeon.
P.S.- I just had to add something over the top... Sorry for the two upvotes if you hate my cavalcade of craziness edit .

Bill Maher New Rules 4/20/12
As I said, the quote is my own, from another video on the subject.
As for the toxicity of ammonia, here is a link to the Health Effects portion of the CDC's Toxicological Profile for Ammonia.
Lots to read, but basically it shows that, except in huge doses of concentrated ammonia, ammonia is readily converted by the liver into urea (hence the ammonia smell of urine). Ingesting ammonia in quantities that are harmful (though still not fatal) causes burns, and ulceration of the mouth. Obviously if there was that much in the food, there would be a problem.
The report points out, "In a study of volunteers, ingestion of a single ammonium chloride tablet (approximately 15 mg NH4+/kg/day) led to a small transient increase (33% above fasting levels) in arterial blood concentrations of ammonium ion in 11 out of 20 subjects (Conn 1972); no change was noted in the remaining nine subjects in this group.[...]These data indicate that ingested ammonia is readily absorbed from the digestive tract and that the liver plays a large role in removing it from the blood (Conn 1972).
Basically, the FDA allows the use of ammonia to sterilize food products because, 1. the quantities needed to harm a human would cause said humans not to eat the products and 2. being naturally occurring, and necessary for life (for the provision of nitrogen for amino acid synthesis), the ingestion of ammonia in these quantities has no long-term health effects.
I'm not trying to argue that eating that pink goo is good for you - but the obsession with the ammonia is the wrong approach to attacking it. Phosphorus, sodium, potassium, magnesium, etc. are also poisonous in the right quantities, and they are also all necessary for human life.
If there is any common thread to my rants here on the sift, it's that people attacking the wrong subject, regardless of their intentions, makes them look stupid and reduces their credibility to those of us who care to know the truth. I completely agree with Maher's point that the republicans just attack anything the liberals support, but when he makes that point using misleading/wrong information, he's just as bad as them.>> ^Yogi:
>> ^Skeeve:
While I don't disagree with Maher's point, I'm getting really sick of people screaming about the ammonia used to treat the pink goo that is turned into chicken nuggets. As I said regarding another video:
"ammonia is a natural chemical that is necessary for human life. The amount of ammonia one would have to ingest to be harmful to a human is huge, and actually ingesting that much would be unthinkable because of the horrendous taste it would impart to the food."
This is like seeing someone sprinkle some sodium-free salt on their food and saying, "OMG that's potassium chloride! That's the lethal chemical in a lethal injection! That's going to kill you!!"
People just don't seem to care that a lot of chemicals that are popularly considered "toxic" are necessary for life or require unfathomably large doses to be harmful.
Where the hell is that quote from and is there any truth to it is what needs to be asked. To me that sounds like something a PR person would say, like in that video about Global Warming where they made the point that "CO2 is natural".
You've got more to answer for Skeeve and if you don't I'm bidding you a hearty GOOD DAY To You Sir!

The Career Of Michael Jordan In A Nutshell
As a freshman at Wilmington's Laney High School, Jordan tried out for the varsity basketball team and was cut. The next year he was cut again soon after the season began, while his best friend, Leroy Smith, made the team. Jordan told Reader's Digest that when he discovered he had been dropped from the varsity again, "I went through the day numb. After school, I hurried home, closed the door to my room and cried so hard. It was all I wanted--to play on that team."
He added: "It's probably good that it happened. It made me know what disappointment felt like. And I knew that I didn't want that feeling ever again."
Busta Rhymes Snaps On A British Chick
Really? We're going for that? I mean, you're definitely right, and I admit that I didn't hear/digest that at first, but let's not say the he was in the wrong for the whole thing, when she bit at him first. No one asked him to be gracious; she just bit him and tried to flee.>> ^RedSky:
"I didn't call none of you no names."
Yeah you did, you called the first lady a bitch.
Are you calling me a pussy ?!?!
Intriguing. I think those nose taps hit the alligator in his weak spot.
Perhaps, he didn't want the trouble to digest furballs?
Also, why isn't he going after those fat humans?

Hey, buddy. I don't know whether you'll be checking your profile much now that you've been sent on the CircleLine cruise, but I wanted to tell you that I for one am rather disgusted by the way this played out. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Northeast Irish-Catholic (now non-superstitious) liberal, and I don't give a flying fick about your politics.
You've been a QUALITY submitter & commenter here, and were probably one of the main reasons I came out of lurkdom and became a Sifter. When I saw your banination, I spent about two hours reading comments and looking at your submissions to try to rationalize your dismissal, but there just wasn't enough. I may be only a GoldStar, but I've been here longer than I'd like to recount. In all my days, I've seen few Sifters as committed to the QUALITY this site intends to promote. I suppose there is much to your banination that I'm not privy to, and I'm very sorry for that. Even though it seems you have trolled quite a few members in the recent past, I think this decision should have been opened to investigation and consultation with the community at large.
Over the last years, we've had a disappointing diaspora of QUALITY members, but yet you stuck around. As the years have progressed, the QUALITY of submitters and high-level, long-term members has dwindled. I came here for people like you, like @Farhad2000, like @eric3579, @djsunkid, @mlx, @silvercord, @dystopianfuturetoday, @NetRunner, @kronosposeidon, @dag, @MarineGunrock and even like Choggie. You are among these names.
A (seemingly) long time ago, this site celebrated its diversity of both style and opinion. We've banned, and supported the banination of conservative trolls in the last few years, but only because of EXCESSIVE violations (eg. CaptainPlanet, and (to his unfortunate discredit) Choggie; this is NOT an exhaustive list). I've watched the progression, and while I agree with the socio-political principles of those in support of the exclusions, I cannot but think how the actual QUALITY of the site has suffered.
This was a place I came to enlighten myself, with submissions like this, this, this, this, this, this, and this (which is truly just a smattering of the QUALITY you've brought here). I used to hit the VideoSift link and expect to see submissions that I wouldn't have seen elsewhere. Unique submissions, with a higher intellectual quotient than the rest of the horse-apple internet digest sites. But now it's a site nearly indistinguishable from this one, and this one, or this one. Certainly (and obviously) I like and frequent those sites, but this is VideoSift, and I have always expected more bang for my buck.
I'm sure you've realized by this point that this comment is not just for you to read, as it both is public, and draws the attention of many other QUALITY members of the community. But I assure you that whatever the reaction, I want you particularly to know that you've affected my understanding of the world-at-large in a most positive way over the last four years. It was a privilege to have had your influence, and I will miss it.
