Most textbooks today already ARE whitewashed versions of actual history. Historical figures are presented and mythical hero's who either surpassed incredible odds at great peril, or were practical saints. Here's just a couple bits you will almost certainly never learn in a high school classroom.

a) Helen Keller - Blind and Deaf, everyone has probably seen the scene where she learns finally how to sign under the water from a pump. What you don't know was that after graduating from college she joined the Socialist Party and hailed the coming of Socialism. (She had good reasons for this, look her up if your interested)

b) Woodrow Wilson - Despite receiving a large black vote into office, the man created many policies that were as he was in fact, extremely racist. This cause at least in part, the large resurgence of white supremacist racism during the late part of his term and afterwards.

Yeah the Japanese eat it, but that doesn't mean the American versions are any good. Tell an Italian Chef to make a sushi and it would be the same result.

Wayyyy too much rice on the nori. and they've been cooked all the way, which isn't the right kind of rice for making sushi. Oh and Nori itself is too firm. Has to be crispier and drier than that otherwise it's too tough and won't fall apart even when chewed. As soon as you bite down on that roll the whole nori piece will stick to the roof of your mouth.

A lot of people use unseasoned unroasted Nori, which is much tougher than roasted Nori. That's why moms usually purchase regular Nori and roast it themselves to get the right consistency. Plus, you won't have to worry about nori getting too crispy because all you have to do is put some water/rice vinegar on it and it gets tough again (Korean version uses sesame oil)

Comparing the Antikythera Mechanism to a jet liner in an Egyptian tomb is the silliest thing I've heard since Steve Jobs said the Segway would revolutionize the roadways. As to Netrunner's comment about the McCain absentee application, that is clearly shenanigans by the GOP. In Ohio, the McCain people sent out a campaign flyer with a return postcard and on the back they had a homemade application for absentee, well instead of using a county or state form or even copying the text from those, they did it from scratch and happened to remove what used to be a statement, "I am a qualifier voter" to using a checkbox that was not pre-filed in. So if a voter did not check the McCain added box, it would be an invalid application, just like on any application where it might say [ ] I am at least 18 years old.

The McCain folks are also sending these similar absentee application flyers to states like MI and WI where the return address on the back is not the correct town clerk for the address of the voter it was sent to. And if voters did not notice this, their application would be sent to the town over and never really completed.

In Ohio, the McCain application goof up is going to mean tens of thousands of applications around the whole state will have to be redone by Boards contacting voters to correct their faulty applications. (This was a requirement by Brunner that any invalid applications must be attempted to contact a voter and correct it. In past Republican run elections, this application would have just been thrown out)

For the record, for the first time in eight years, Ohio's chief election official is NOT the chair of a Republican (or Democratic) presidential candidate's campaign.
