Without regulation, what prevents one person from enslaving another? or robbing another? or killing another? or raping another? or molesting a child? or destroying the environment? or exploiting labor? He makes it clear that he does not like government, but he provides no evidence for his own utopian belief system, and belief without evidence is the definition of faith.

You want an answer. Okay. We have those things you listed now under your perfect big government system. Let's go through SOME of this list.

1. "Slavery". We have slavery or servitude thanks to compulsory taxation (aka theft), so I guess your system hasn't proved capable of stopping that.

2. "Robbing another". What does your system do to prevent robbery? Strict penalties if the assailant is caught is not preventative.

3. "Killing another". Same as robbery above. Your ideal system does nothing to prevent murder. Your ideal utopia would make killing easier as people are stripped of their rights to self defense (gun laws). They'd instead have to call 911 and hope the cops show before they were murdered.

4. "Rape" and "Child molestation". Again. Same as robbery. Your system is not preventative.

And so on. The point he's making, I think, is that we already experience all the evils of man right now in our current system, and it was powerless to prevent it, and what's worse it's created more tyranny than justice in the process. We still have servitude, robbery, rape, murder, etc. And on top of that we have less personal liberties and less avenues to protect ourselves.

By the statist calling our voluntaryist viewpoint religious you're using the same tired semantic argument theists use when calling atheism a religion.

Also, here are some examples of what US law at least defines as maltreatment

Case Examples Of Maltreatment (from the same link i posted above)

Physical Abuse
During a violent fight between her mother and her mother's boyfriend, 8-year-old Kerry called 911. She told the operator that her mother's boyfriend always hit her mommy when he came home drunk. In addition, Kerry said she was worried about her 5-year-old brother, Aaron, because he tried to help their mom and the boyfriend punched him in the face. As a result, Aaron fell, hit his head on the coffee table, and had not moved since. The operator heard yelling in the background and the mother screaming, "Get off the phone!" When the police and paramedics arrived, Aaron was unconscious and the mother had numerous bruises on her face.

Child Neglect
Robert and Carlotta are the parents of a 9-month-old son named Ruiz. Robert and Carlotta used various drugs together until Robert was arrested and sent to prison for distributing cocaine. Since Robert's arrest, Carlotta has been living with different relatives and friends. Recently, she left her son with her sister who also has a history of drug use. Her sister then went to a local bar and left Ruiz unattended. After hearing the baby boy cry for over an hour, the neighbors called the police. When Carlotta arrived to pick up Ruiz, the police and the CPS worker were also there. It appeared that she had been using drugs.

Sexual Abuse
Jody, age 11, said that she was asleep in her bedroom and that her father came in and took off his robe and underwear. She stated that he got into bed with her and pulled up her nightgown and put his private part on her private part. She stated that he pushed hard and it hurt. Jody said that the same thing had happened before while her mother was at work. Jody stated that she told her mother, but her father insisted that she was telling a lie.

Psychological Abuse
Jackie is a 7-year-old girl who lives with her mother. Jackie's mother often screams at her, calls her degrading names, and threatens to kill her when Jackie misbehaves. Jackie doesn't talk in class anymore, doesn't have any friends in her neighborhood, and has lost a lot of weight.

It's good to see this representational government taking care of its poor once again. Funny how you never hear of the home invasions for the rich, but the poor are all over the nightly news having their dogs shot and them shot as well.
Haha. Way to go statist idiots.

Home invasions???
A woman called 911 to report domestic violence on the part of her son

Sounds like the police were there at the request of the 'poor'.

It's also pretty telling you want to paint ALL cops as being like the suspected murderer here. Meanwhile the majority of the police and law enforcement, the partner included, are busy arresting and prosecuting the bad(soon to be former) cop.

We 'statists' have never argued that police are perfect, merely that the majority would act against those bad apples that would abuse their power. Here it is, proven out in tragic reality.

Interview With Woman Who Had Cup Of Acid Thrown In Her Face

When you say "flush" what does that mean? Dab with a wet towel or spray water in large quantities at the face?
I think I would be useful in this situation given as you state that water isn't always the most appropriate first treatment.

Man, this seems to happen more and more. Do I need to learn how to deal with this as a potential first responder?

Have someone call 911 and you call National Poison Control Hotline (1-800-222-1222) for assistance identifying the type of chemical you are dealing with.
If acid is in the eyes rinse with low pressure water, large amounts of water. If there is acid on the eyes, it's to late to worry about what will happen when the water contacts the chemical at least that is my take on the whole affair. Remember I'm not a lawyer or a professional emergency medical responder but at any given moment anyone can become a first responder. The best thing you can do is keep the victim under as much control as possible so as not to cause anymore damage.

Chemical burns not rinsed with water
Some chemical burns are made worse if rinsed (flushed) with water.
Carbolic acid or phenol does not mix with water, so use isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol first to flush the chemical off the skin and then flush with water. If alcohol is not available, flush with a large amount of water. Do not flush the eye with alcohol.
Sulfuric acid is flushed with a mild, soapy solution if the burns are not severe. Sulfuric acid feels hot when water is added to the acid, but it is better to flush the area and not leave the acid on the skin.
Hydrofluoric acid is flushed with a bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) solution. (Use a small amount of water to make solution.) Then flush with a large amount of water. Burns from this acid may not show at first, so flush the area even if a burn is not seen. Do not flush the eye itself with a baking soda solution.
Dry powders, such as dry lime, are brushed away first, because adding water can make a liquid that burns. After the powder is brushed away, flush with water for 20 minutes.

When they say flush they mean to run water over the affected area. Like washing your hands. Spraying large amounts of water may not be the best choice.

Anything in the eyes should be low pressure. Usually the eye washing stations are just upturned shower heads. Also, you have to hold your eye(s) open which is really hard to do.

Who's Got The Gun Now Bitch? (Surveillance Video)

Sweet Jesus, I'm seeing Inception tomorrow. UPDATE: My mind = blown (Blog Entry by Sarzy)

mintbbb says...

Saw it with Net on Sunday. I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed. Again, the best visual scenes were already in the trailer, so there really was nothing to totally blow me away. Also, Leo DiCaprio yet again plays a person who might, or might not be sane/real/seeing things to f*ck things up for others. It was a good movie, but it wasn't one where I'd go 'Oh! oh! We have to go see it again!'

Yes, dreams there were way too normal. Mine are not like that. If I could just make my dreams into movies, Steven King stories would look tame. Too bad I don't remember enough details to write them down in the morning! But just last night I had an ax murderer in the basement, Net insisted on going down there and I was trying to call 911 and they didn't take my calls because they though I was just joking. And then some.. I really don't like sleeping..

I was axpecting more. Though I was happy to see Cillian Murphy again! I think I just have to stop watching any movie trailers and I'll be good!

So, in the space of 30 seconds or so, someone not only noted the ruckus but called 911, made a report to the dispatcher, the dispatcher radioed out the call and sirens are heard converging from a few blocks away.

If you're going to go to all that effort to fake something, at least run the script by someone who has 2 neurons to rub together.

Healthcare reform (Blog Entry by jwray)

imstellar28 says...

This is really a prime example of exactly what is wrong with "arbitrary law" and the government in general. One guy thinks he has all the answers (sorry jwray I know you mean well) but unfortunately he choses the wrong sources to base his science on, and he gets it completely wrong....instead of a bunch of laws which "help reduce our health care costs" we have a bunch of wasteful taxation which does the exact opposite.

Every idea sounds great when it springs forth from you brain...and I'll even admit jwray not even a couple years back I have made this exact argument: Tax alcohol and use it to fund liver transplants...tax cigarettes and use it to fund lung cancer treatment, etc. The reality is such taxes are anti-human; because a tax on a personal choice is passing judgment on the way someone choses to live their life - when it does not affect you in the slightest.

If someones personal choices affect your life, then yes, pass all the judgment you want, take them to court or call 911 but if I want to live on a farm in the middle of nowhere and buy a deep fryer, cigarettes, booze, soda, and potato chips from www.unhealthylifestyleproducts.com who are you to tack on perceived "healthcare costs" ?

Actually CBC did a piece on how to stop your car if you can't slow it down. It was this year, Feb I think, and before the guy in LA had to call 911 to stop his car.

The guy in the video makes a good point though, learn how to turn your car off =\

How To Stop A Runaway Toyota Prius - The NSFW Way

Psychologic says...

I'm sure they could design a system where pressing the brake automatically disengages any acceleration, but that probably costs too much money or something.

If your car randomly accelerates in heavy traffic and you run into the back of someone's car, I can understand that. It's a sudden event.

... but when someone has enough time to pull out their phone and call 911, I really have a hard time justifying them having a license to begin with. How long should that call even be?
