Very artistic. I approve. Where does one go to find these old-timey burlesque establishments of ill repute? Probably New York. (they get all the cool stuff)

Few of my friends are in Burlesque. It's quite artistic, but I still can't help feeling uncomfortable watching my female friends get naked on a show stage. It's like watching your cross dressing brother all made up, and he actually LOOKS GOOD; a very awkward experience.

@Lann @UsesProzac -- here's an example of something that I interpret as a "shut up." "No reason to complain" can be translated to "you shouldn't have said anything to start with."

The "tense" is weird -- it is more "you should never have spoken" rather than "shut up now." The squash is still present in retro's sentiment, just as it always is here on the Sift.

I lasted longer than @NicoleBeewhoever wrote the burlesque sift talk -- but she was brave enough to try a little feminist education in her Sift Talk. (All I'm doing is saying is it is uncomfortable to be a woman on this site and I'm not the first one to feel that way, and I don't like trolling.) I was meekly lurking while nicolewhoever was engaging. And yes, can you believe it??? I was meek! I lurked and scurried and was afraid of speaking up, knowing the unwritten rule -- don't interfere with the boys and their idea of fun.

Until now. My one little rebellion, triggered by a specific series of events. And oddly enough, this sift talk only happened because I have been educated well by the Freedom Fighters here on the Sift. "Don't censor me. I have a right to say anything I want. Freedom of speech. Move on if you don't like it." Sound familiar?

I have learned the lessons of the Sift well.

I have a lifetime pass to the local arthouse movie theater that I paid $1500 for twelve years ago. They just offered the deal again, sweetened with popcorn for life -- for a mere $5,000.

Best return on an investment EVER. Beats my IRA all to heck.

4 - Can't wait to see The King's Speech. Great trailer, hopefully the movie will measure up

6 - Toy Story 3. I cried three times, at least. And it is Quentin Tarentino's number one pick. Who would have thought it.

I'm having trouble coming up with three more that I loved. I can't think that clearly.

The worst? The first scene in Burlesque. The absolute worst acting and worst writing. Luckily, it was less bad for the rest of the movie.

I'm not going to comment on your criticisms of my character because it's not my place to do so, nor would it serve any real purpose, but I can at least respond to your actual argument.

Any mention of "utopia" was purely rhetorical. Come on - you don't need me to elaborate on that. I do happen to have heard of the suffragettes and have been a lifelong feminist. I'm not opposing sexual expression. I'm not opposing nudity. I'm not opposing female sexual liberty. I'm certainly not opposing art depicting nudity and it's completely insane of you to even suggest any of these things. I oppose the sexual objectification, commercialization and sale of women, and I believe it is destructive and reflective of an inherent weakness of the human species.
I bear the burden of expressing myself accurately, but you seem to have taken misinterpretation to an expert level.

1. You didn't actually contradict the "as long as everyone knows that she's a whore" bit... As I said in my first post, "leaving morality judgements aside". You just haven't managed to do that and continue to try and impress your version of morality on her choice of job. Side note, I bet with that video she's probably garnered more world wide attention than your compositions have. Must sting a little to see someone get so much attention for something as simple as getting their kit off and having a large rack. =)

Side note, an old dear friend of mine does pole dancing and burlesque as a hobby. Genuinely loves it, bit of an exhibitionist. I suppose she's a whore as well?

2. As a lifelong feminist, you should recognise and respect that women have the right to choose to portray themselves sexually or even sell their bodies if they so wish. While you might disagree with the decision, would not do so yourself (assuming your an actual woman rather than one of those poser male feminists), or even lament the fact that sexual appetites have created a demand for such things, who are you to cast stones at her choice? You presume that you have some sort of moral high ground to stare down your nose at her. You do not.
