Not sure what the auto-generated subtitles were meant to provide other than audio descriptions of the thuds of large boulders colliding with vehicles... Not even a Wilhelm scream in there!

Helicopter night rescue of trapped firefighters

eric3579 says...

Here is a really cool website that tracks airplanes in real time. I've been watching tankers and helicopters fighting multiple fires today in my area. As of right now they are fighting the CZU fire with multiple helicopters just west of Boulder Creek https://www.flightradar24.com/37.09,-122.08/12 . Also fighting the SCU fire with multiple large Air-tankers including the 747 global supertanker, currently dropping around Henry Coe state parkhttps://www.flightradar24.com/37.39,-121.51/11. Also a couple copters fighting that fire just south of Livermore.

(edit) I see North of San Francisco there are quite a few helicopters and small planes fighting the fire in the Point Reyes area. https://www.flightradar24.com/37.99,-122.85/11

So many fires right now

2020 Jeep Wrangler Rolls Over In Small Overlap Crash Tests

newtboy says...

*personal experience crashing/rolling...too much of it

I'm no doctor, but I've been in dozens of what normal people would call wrecks/accidents thanks to off road, and multiple rolls. The lateral (to the side) forces in a roll were never close to direct impact forces...not in the same ballpark. It's all about maximum force/time. Rolls are nearly always comparatively slow, drawn out rotational acceleration, crashes are quick, near instantaneous. That makes an enormous difference. Rolling at 50mph, you might get hurt. Hitting a wall at 50mph, you're lucky if you survive.
Rolling looks scary until you've done it. Dead stop crashing is scary.

Edit: I once watched a truck roll 10 times at 100mph + through a fence...driver walked away and raced later that day. That speed into a boulder, he would be dead, no question.

Your spine is designed to move forward and backwards, not violently but still the mechanics allow for it. When it starts doing the same sideways, particularly in the neck as shown in this video is when you slip discs, fracture verts, pinch the cord, etc.

Cyclists Tempt Darwin

Two things I learned living next to Amtrak rail in Mystic, CT, unless you're near a road crossing they are dead silent until they are right up on you or blasting their horn. So I learned never to walk on the tracks with your back to train traffic. Also it's easy to forget that they are a lot wider than the rails themselves. I was sitting on a rail bridge drinking a beer, heard a train coming and assumed I had plenty of clearance. I look up at the last second and realize I'm going to get killed, jumped down onto a bunch of boulders at the last second. Painful lesson that I never forgot.

Man exacts revenge on package thieves with a loud trap

SFOGuy says...

You would end up dying your front steps lol.

However.

More interesting to have a triggered spray of Butyric Acid triggered at his boulders at the edge of the lawn by an electric eye AFTER the box trap is triggered.

I wonder if it would be legal to use dye packs like banks use. That way you could mark the offenders and everyone would know they were up to no good.

Boulder Breaks In Climbers Hands

Digitalfiend says...

Dude is seriously lucky that's all the damage he sustained (in the description). That boulder was big enough to probably crush his head.

By the way, what is that black mat looking thing that falls over when he comes down? Looks like one of those foam sit-up mats but can't be, right? No reasonably sane person would think that'd protect you in a fall ... RIGHT?!
