McCain: Palin Is Top Energy Expert In US, Understands Russia

joedirt says...

Joseph Goebbels ("Aus Churchills Lügenfabrik" published in Die Zeit ohne Beispiel, 1941)

Rather, it depends on a remarkably stupid thick-headedness. The English follow the principle that when one lies, one should lie big, and stick to it. They keep up their lies, even at the risk of looking ridiculous.

US Office of Strategic Services' profile on Hitler
His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.

New Book: The Wrecking Crew (The Conservatives Dominate USA)

srd says...

Industry-Friendly != Fascism.

The word ‘Fascism’ is almost entirely meaningless. In conversation, of course, it is used even more wildly than in print. I have heard it applied to farmers, shopkeepers, Social Credit, corporal punishment, fox-hunting, bull-fighting, the 1922 Committee, the 1941 Committee, Kipling, Gandhi, Chiang Kai-Shek, homosexuality, Priestley's broadcasts, Youth Hostels, astrology, women, dogs and I do not know what else... almost any English person would accept ‘bully’ as a synonym for ‘Fascist’. — George Orwell, What is Fascism?. 1944

Why Do ALL Europeans Hate America?

Kerotan says...

>> ^BillOreilly:
I'm part German and part French, the worst of both worlds.
One side of me wants to start a fight, and the other side wants to run away.
Screw you Europe, we saved your behind, and this is the respect we get? Shame.

We?

To quote Yatzhees comments in reply to comments made about his MOH airborne review.

"no you didn't fight in world war 2, all you did was make shitty posts like that one."

Your implying that the nature of states doesn't change and that the USA has always been and always while be the heroes that helped kick the Nazis in World wars 2, alot has changed since world war 2, and america is seen as no longer the land of the free, but more like the land of governmental heavy handed action, yes the USA assisted in world war 2, but I reserve the right to be angry when the leaders of the world invade a country with the contingency plan that pretty much consists of "iraq: lol", especially since in my country there was a majority against the war in iraq, but tony blair went to war anyway.

The allies started the contingency plan for Europe in 1941, the bush administration only started a contingency plan weeks before the invasion.

This is why I hate the america, not because of its perhaps ignorant people at times, not because of its fervent religious beliefs, not because of its supposed lack of culture, but because it tries to police the world, and ends up doing a sub par job of it.

I don't hate you or what your country stands for, I just hate the way that bush administration has governed.

Harry Nilsson - 1941

schmawy says...

1941
- Harry Nilsson

Well in 1941 a happy father had a son
And by 1944 the father walked right out the door
And in '45 the mom and son were still alive
But who could tell in '46 if the two were to survive

Well the years were passing quickly
But not fast enough for him
So he close his eyes through '55
And he opened them up again
When he looked around he saw a clown
And the clown seemed very gay
And he set that night to join that circus clown and run away

{Scat solo}

Well he followed every railroad track
An every highway sign
And he had a girl in each new town
And the towns he left behind
And the open road
Was the only road he knew
But the color of his dreams
Slowly turning into blue

The he met a girl the kind of girl
He wanted all his life
She was soft and kind and good to him
So he took her for a wife
And they got a house not far from town
And in a little while
The girl had seen the doctor
And she came home with a smile

Now in 1961 a happy father had a son
And by 1964 the father walked right out the door
And in '65 the mom and son were still around
But what will happen to the boy
When the circus comes to town

Real Time Panel Discusses the Iraq War (April 13th 07)

quantumushroom says...

Imagine if the drive-by media--which is still 99% liberally-biased no matter how many times you whine about Fox news--was around in 1941. All throughout WW2, you'd hear nothing but complaints that the military wasn't ready and Hitler is unstoppable, and Roosevelt would be continually badmouthed and blamed for his 'failure to provide adequate training to the fleet at Pearl Harbor.'

Liberals own defeat, their opinions on this war are a reflection of their defeatism in every other arena: America is bad, evil and kiling the planet, the US military is made up of torturers, Bush is only in it for his oil buddies, life is a random lottery, if you're a minority you're automatically oppressed, the evil rich control everything and only a big government fueled by high taxes can save you.

You think pulling out of Iraq is going to end the jihad against America by islamofascist scum? Think the nutjob in Iran is going to 'stand down' if we leave Iraq? Be less foolish than that.
