Well after a small amount of research it appears that the nazies used Carbon monoxide as well as cyanide. so there goes his large chimney and and sealed room theory ore at minimum his necessity for it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gas_chamber

"homosexuals, physically and mentally disabled, and intellectuals. In early 1940, the use of hydrogen cyanide produced as Zyklon B was tested on 250 Roma children from Brno at the Buchenwald concentration camp.[4] On September 3, 1941, 600 Soviet POWs were gassed with Zyklon B at Auschwitz camp I; this was the first experiment with the gas at Auschwitz.[5]
One of the destroyed crematoria at Auschwitz concentration camp

Carbon monoxide was also used in large purpose-built gas chambers. The gas was provided by internal combustion engines (detailed in the Gerstein Report).[6]"

"The gas chamber at Auschwitz I was reconstructed after the war as a memorial, but without a door in its doorway and without the wall that originally separated the gas chamber from a washroom. The door that had been added when the gas chamber was converted into an air raid shelter was left intact.[10]"

The Cable News "Fascist-Socialist" Apocalypse

xxovercastxx says...

"...the word ‘Fascism’ is almost entirely meaningless. In conversation, of course, it is used even more wildly than in print. I have heard it applied to farmers, shopkeepers, Social Credit, corporal punishment, fox-hunting, bull-fighting, the 1922 Committee, the 1941 Committee, Kipling, Gandhi, Chiang Kai-Shek, homosexuality, Priestley's broadcasts, Youth Hostels, astrology, women, dogs and I do not know what else ... Except for the relatively small number of Fascist sympathisers, almost any English person would accept ‘bully’ as a synonym for ‘Fascist’. That is about as near to a definition as this much-abused word has come."

Russian - Finnish War [1939 - 1940] (Talvisota - 1989) HD

ElJardinero says...

Actually the purge in the soviet army was probably closer to 80% than 50%.

From Wikipedia:
"The purge of the army removed three of five marshals (then equivalent to six-star generals), 13 of 15 army commanders (then equivalent to four- and five-star generals), eight of nine admirals (the purge fell heavily on the Navy, who were suspected of exploiting their opportunities for foreign contacts[16]), 50 of 57 army corps commanders, 154 out of 186 division commanders, 16 of 16 army commissars, and 25 of 28 army corps commissars.[17]."

What the russians did learn from this was the basis to their victory over the germans, so in some strange way this evil mini war served a greater good in the end.

If you are interested in WWII from the soviet side exlusevily I highly recommend Absolute War: Soviet Russia in the Second World War. It does mostly focus on 1941-1945 but does go into how they messed this up.

The book could be better edited but I found it worth it due to the immense amount of facts I learned.
If you're mostly interested in the human factor, what it was like in -40° day after day , how people dealt with the war on an emotional level, you should probably stay away from this one.

Fallout 3 "I Dont Wanna Set The World On Fire" Music

EDD says...

"I Don't Want to Set the World On Fire" is a 1941 song by The Ink Spots, used in the Fallout 3 intro. It was initially going to be used in the original Fallout intro, but Interplay was unable to get the license, so it was scrapped and "Maybe", another song by The Ink Spots, was used.

Great piece of music, true. You just might want to add "ink spots" and "trailer" (in the tags, at the least), since video footage is a mashup of several F3 trailers.

The World at War : The Soviet Union 1941 to 1943

>> ^stalingrad1942:
what is that sound? it is the sound of confused westerners typing in videosift that we must not talk of russian suffering.
if americans suffered such loss then they will shout about it for one thousand years think about it

Please don't make foolish comments, I hear no confusion or hate for Russia here. I am sad for the Russian people's suffering and impressed by their resolve.

Был момент, когда была зла на земле, и мы стали братьями чтобы победить его.
