Buh bye Sarah Palin!

BicycleRepairMan says...

She's not running: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/10/05/breaking-sarah-palin-will-not-run-for-president/?hpt=hp_t1

Sarah Palin is the only potential candidate with the same "rockstar" power as The Kenyawaiian. Cain is smart and would make a fine candidate, but people are not logical or overly using their reasoning abilities; they are emotionally-driven from the reptilian brain, with only a thin veneer of reason. Palin = Rockstar. Obama = Rockstar. No other candidates anywhere have this power at this time.
Palin is far smarter than the meager credit given by her critics. You don't become governor of Alaska by being a dummy. Nobody kicks a dead dog, and the disgraceful way Palin and her family have been treated by the libmedia since Day Uno should give anyone who 'trusts' any kind of media pause. I can't think of anyone else on the entire political spectrum who has been the target of such outright vitriol, personal and political, including Obama.
We can discuss Palin's verbal gaffes or 'hypocrisy' on issues; it does not matter. Palin loves America; I have never gotten that vibe from Barack. Ever. He seems a disdainful tea-sipping Eurointellectual, which would be forgivable if he ever did anything of note.
Palin = Rockstar. Obama = Rockstar. That's really it. It would be no shame for her to run and lose, but if she didn't run at all, that would be cheating herself. If she doesn't run NOW, she'll be a ghost for 2016 and beyond.

Re: executions. Sorry, I did not see this question before now. Correct me at will, but I think the question you're really asking is, given the risk of accidentally putting an innocent person to death, do you still condone executions?
My answer is Yes. Liberals have not been able to prove an innocent man or woman anywhere in America has been executed, since at least 1950. Even were it so, it's a risk I'm happy to take.
The System needs to be fixed. This endless appeals bullshite needs to stop. No one sentenced to death should live longer than 10 days more.

The only way I would support ending the death penalty is if life in prison w/o any chance of parole was actual punishment. Federal crimes should be served in a federal gulag somewhere cold in the middle of nowhere, with few amenities. Every day should be hard labor until natural death. Once a month we can offer all the inmates a suicide pill. I'm sure you won't agree with much of this and that's fine. Most people in prison belong there. They are not nice people.

Even my uber conservative father is somewhat embarrassed by her now. Started out a big fan.
So really? You really think this person is a viable political candidate for anything?
She does make a great Fox pundit. PS. That is not a compliment.
PPS Still waiting to hear from you about whether you are okay with the state executing innocent people. Yes or no. (Hint -- If you can't say it, you probably shouldn't be doing it.)

SFPD Shoots and Kills Unarmed 19yr old Man over $2 Bus Fare

GenjiKilpatrick says...

@bareboards2
Quantum mechanically, EVERYTHING is possible.

Tho which has a higher probability of occurring, Oh Queen Goddess of Tempered Reason & Logic:

1. Guy got spooked. Ran.

2. Cops felt empowered because they thought they were about to catch "a bad guy".
(Cause.. only criminals run from police, you know)

3. They shot to wound him but killed him instead

4. They made up a story to cover their asses.

OR

1. Guy got spooked. Ran.

2. Shot backward at police.

3. From underneath his arm.

4. While running forward in a full sprint.

5. The momentum of his fall flung the gun (from underneath his arm) 15 feet away.

6a. The police saw this but failed to collect the evidence immediately.
(OR)
6b. The police never saw that the suspect was disarmed during the fall.

7. They waited 5 or 10 minutes before even approaching the body to locate the weapon.

8. Made no attempt to secure the area were the weapon was likely dropped by the suspect.

9. Let large crowds form and contaminate the scene even tho they knew the weapon was missing.

10. Days later they stumbled across video footage of the weapon being collected.

11. Found out who shot the video.

12. Found out who collected the weapon in the video.

13. Tracked that person down.

14. Retrieved the weapon without incidence.

>> ^bareboards2:

Anyway. I'm done with this.
You are going to believe what you want.
Not even a moment of doubt that that man was shooting while running?
No room for that possibility?

Robin Williams & daughter Zelda talk about the legend of!

L0cky says...

I took 10 days off work to play Ocarina of Time (previously loved LttP). It's the best game ever.

It's nice that Robin Williams called his daughter Zelda; but their description of the game in this ad is totally vacuous. "I liked the graphics; and you could push stuff around; and I liked the horse. The new one has better graphics. It looks sharper than before. Cutting grass and finding stuff! It's addicting!".

It's not consistently rated as the best game ever produced because you could push some blocks around. A few words about the story; the atmosphere; the adventure; the world; the characters; the grand scale; or even the music would have been nice.

George Rekers, Anti-Gay Activist, Caught With Male Escort 'Rentboy'

George Alan Rekers, a prominent anti-gay activist who co-founded the conservative Family Research Council, was caught returning from a 10-day trip to Europe with a male escort he found on Rentboy.com, which is exactly what it sounds like.

Rekers, who is also a professor emeritus of neuropsychiatry at the University of South Carolina and a Baptist minister, recently testifed against gay adoption in Florida, where he resides.

More... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/05/05/george-rekers-anti-gay-ac_n_565142.html

During a presentation on research conducted by George A. Rekers, professor of Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Science at the University of South Carolina, the presenters noted that “boys and girls adopted by lesbian and homosexual couples show a greater level of stress than that which is already generated by their status as orphans or children abandoned by their biological parents.” They added that this situation “produces diverse trauma and behavioral disorders that can even lead to suicidal tendencies or attempts.”
The symposium in Mexico took place after lawmakers in the Legislative Assembly of Mexico City approved reforms allowing homosexual adoption. Research included in the study by Professor Rekers was the basis for rulings in the state of Florida prohibiting the adoption of minors by same-sex couples.

Anthony Weiner - THE PICTURE WAS OF ME & I SENT IT

My_design says...

He would have shown more moral character by not getting into this situation to begin with. He only came out with the truth because more proof of his infidelities were becoming known. I asked my wife if sending a pic of my member and having sex based conversations with other women would constitute cheating. Her answer was "Yes, and if you ever do it, I will kill you." Now he may have a different arrangement with his wife, but since he felt like he had to hide it and keep it from his wife, I think she and my wife may feel the same way. So he knows he was cheating, otherwise no guilt - hence no moral character.
My guess is that he knew it is wrong and got off on the fact that he was doing something that carries great risk. I also think that the writhing in quilt and the punishment is something else he secretly enjoys and once it is all said and done, and he has gotten away with it, he will repeat all his transgressions.
>> ^bareboards2:

And he showed his moral character by coming clean on the incident. Took him awhile, but 10 days? I'll give someone 10 days to writhe in guilt at getting caught.
So you should be proud of him, right?

>> ^My_design:
The problem that people seem to be missing is that he cheated on his wife and knew it was wrong. He felt guilty and lied about it. This is important in that if it had not become public his indiscretions could have been used to manipulate a US Congressman. That is why MORAL CHARACTER is actually something that we should use to evaluate our representatives. Lord knows Illinois could learn that lesson. When you put someone into a position of power that lacks moral character, such a Bill Clinton or Blagovich, you wind up wasting time and tax payer money when their indiscretions eventually comes out.
If you don't use moral character in evaluating a politician you risk their being found out and causing an uproar as is the case here or far worse they become open for manipulation by corporations, organizations, or other countries.
How do you think Soviet Russia managed to manipulate many of their sources? Hell the oldest cliche in the book is to take a morally questionable US representative, or military official, out on your corporate yacht/plane/resort with a bunch of hookers, drugs and high end liquor. Before you know it you've got a Kennedy in your pocket and a ton of grainy black and white photos.
The problem is how do you determine that someone is actually moral? Because I liked Weiner and thought he had moral character. Tricked again.

Jack Sparrow - The Lonely Island feat. Michael Bolton

I really doubt it is a coincidence that there's a Pirates movie coming out in what, 10 days? Don't get me wrong it's not shameless but I have no doubt they're pocketing some change.>> ^Hybrid:

Not sure I agree with you there. I don't think The Lonely Island need the money or the publicity from doing a viral. They do their own thing.>> ^RedSky:
I'd like it more if it wasn't blatant viral marketing.

Angry Video Game Nerd - Metal Gear Review

Actually this was pretty much my reaction to Metal Gear back when it was new. Borrowed the game from a friend for 10 days and got almost nowhere. Half the problem was never being able to enter a password correctly (at that age I didn't know how to write 0 and o differently).

A replacement? No, they took my MBA, said '5-7 days' and that was that. It's been 20 days, and they have no idea when I'll be getting it back. That's just piss poor customer service.

I understand saying it'll be between 5-7 days and it being 10 days, or, hell, if you cannot turn it around that quickly, just say it will be however many weeks. Just don't boldly lie about it. Do they make these damn cheap plastic parts only when someone orders a replacement?
