If you're looking for a way to find top videos, you can go to the Front Tab, and then select Top Sifts. You can then choose a range of 24 hrs, 1 week, 1 month, 6 months, 1 year, or all time. Here's an example.

Or, if you're looking to find videos that have achieved a minimum number of votes, you can use Advanced Search, then select your Sort Order, and then select Vote Threshold. Here's an example. You can narrow the search even more by selecting which channels you want to include in your search.

I have two points to make:

1. There are already ways of finding videos with a lot of votes.
2. I think channels should help describe a video's content, not the number of votes it received.

You're *bestof invocation would give a quantitative measure, not any type of description of video content. I don't think it's a good idea, but then that's only one man's opinion. For what it's worth.

Could this not be done via a glorified search? As in, a search that returns videos with 100+ votes and marked as quality?

Regarding bestof specifically, if a video was over 100+ and marked as quality, surely people will just come along and mark it as *bestof regardless? I mean after all, it is a popular, quality video. I'd therefore anticipate most of the videos meeting this criteria going into the bestof channel and then you've just got a huge channel that could essentially just be the results of a search.

I dunno... I just don't see the benefit of a "special" channel like this myself. I'm someone who likes clean, solid features, rather than feature bloat, and there are existing features I think could do with an overhaul/removal i.e. beggar's canyon before new features are added. There are also other things I'd rather see along a similar theme... like being able to call quality on a video more than once (or say once a year etc...), things like that.

Instead of a channel, or even tagging, I'd love to see more search options in general!

Each channel does have their own 'top' list,and they do have 'weekly top 15' too. I just think the 'top' lists should be automatically generated, based on votes on weekly, daily, or whatever bases instead of people just tagging them.

Maybe we could have some favorite 'playlists of the week' or so Or a weekly top 15 available, heck, weekly top 30!

I'm wanting to put the emphasis on QUALITY, which is subjective, I know....which is why we would need a minimum number of votes...I don't know how it would best be carried out . Maybe it could be nominated and seconded.....I wouldn't want a channel populated mostly by TDS and QI videos...I'm thinking the BEST that the sift has to offer....

^Some people think TDS and QI are some of the best videos here. As you said, quality is subjective, so I don't see how a *bestof invocation would deliver what you're looking for, with so many varying opinions of what constitutes quality.

Well, if early polling is any indication, it seems as if the majority will be against the idea. KP and Hybrid both bring up very valid points. I have a couple of other ideas for channel possibilities...but if anyone has any input on needed channels I'll gladly consider them and include them in a future poll.

why not a *recreation that is RE-creation. or you know, that word for when something has been done over and over, like " i fought the law " that song has been ocvered by lots of people, or when someone does a re-do of a movie.. if its not the original, it belongs in such and such channel.
