I'm sure you weren't writing this for my benefit but I just wanted to say I appreciate you kind of knowing where I was coming from, and you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned about how people can have complex reactions to seemingly inoffensive situations. I'm not the type to come out with very personal statements like that, but something about it just hit a raw nerve and I was in a weird enough mood to show it...

I'm in the lay off Alien_concept camp here. As if her small autobiographical contribution to this thread should really have an effect on the volume of warm fuzzies you are deriving from this video.

By all means be warm and fuzzy, just don't be surprised when some people have slightly more complex reactions to what you perceive as a purely joy filled moment.

P.S. This video gave me some warm fuzzies. Even if the dad turns out to be a douche in other aspects and immediately returned to training his pit bull for the weekend dog fighting championship, it's nice to see parents be generous with their time.

When she started off on her rant against nationalized health care being a bad idea because it would put all the power in "their" hands (meaning the government) I was reminded of this quote by the most famous Republican of all: "...that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."

This is my current issue with the Beckian/Limbaughian conservatives illustrated so well by this fine young specimen; they no longer think of the government as a "we" but as a "them".
