I didn't see a response in the iRenew video to your question about how ignore works, so please pardon me if you've already figured it out. If you choose to ignore a user, their comments don't disappear from the threads -- Instead all of the text is replaced with a link that says something like "This user is ignored, click here to view." If you like, you can still click the link and see what they said. It doesn't save you from seeing any text quoted in a non-ignored user's reply though.
