I can't help it! It seems to be Watchmen avatar week. And Joey is awesome. I should bother to plug in the scanner and get a better icon from my copy, though. This was the only thing that turned up on an image search

Misleading titles aside - You hit the nail on the head. You are advertising with your title. You've got to appeal to knee jerk reactions and subconscious desires.

"TED Talks: Nude Photography in Urban Ruins" would've gotten sifted to the front page in under 5 hours.

"TED Talks" is your knee jerk reaction. Sifters are intelligent. They love TED.

"Nude" is obviously the subconscious desire.

I sometimes feel like a news editor who has to make up catchy titles to get people interested. It can be difficult and can lead to annoying and misleading titles.
