at the beginning of the video there's a newspaper headline re:brooklyn... found this explanation on wikipedia-

"Yma Súmac was born on September 10, 1922 in Ichocán (Cajamarca, Peru) as Zoila Augusta Emperatriz Chávarri del Castillo. <snip> It is also claimed that she is an Incan princess directly descended from Atahualpa. The story that she was actually born Amy Camus (Yma Sumac read backwards) in Brooklyn or Canada is a hoax."

I'm starting a project to actually measure the vocal ranges of various singers for their Wikipedia entries. It's amazing how many 4 octave ranges become 3 and change when actually measured - like those seven foot tall guys in the NBA. But Yma does have an amazing voice.
