Here's a bit of an explanation:
-WoW is a MMORPG - thousands of people all playing in the same virtual world. There are currently about 8 million people playing worldwide. That's 0.1% of earth's population
-Guilds are groups of players. They can range from small to very large (hundreds of players)
-Dungeons are the big part of the game - this is wear all the "loot" is, along with big tough bosses. Grouping ranges from 5 to 40 people (>=10 is a "raid")
-This video is of a guild raiding Onyxia's Lair. This is a short dungeon but with a very powerful dragon that takes a long time to defeat. It takes a lot of co-ordination and planning
-As you can see from the video, it doesn't go so well.
-Wipe = everyone dies
-DKP = dragon kill points. players accrue these by running dungeons/raids in order to "purchase" loot. This is not an in-game system. It was thought up of players ages ago. If you do something wrong you can lose points.
-GM = guild master (the dude yelling)
-The 40 man raid is broken up into groups of 5. the GM tells them all what to do
-The fight with onyxia is long and has to be managed. The warriors have to keep the dragon's attention (aggro) because they can take the most damage. Other players attacking could accidentally "steal aggro" and then the dragon would attack them, killing them very quickly
-Welps = baby dragons.
-DPS = damage per second; DoT=Damage over Time

Over christmas I watched my brother's guild take this same mob. It is difficult, took them 4 tries.

It's a dragon, you fight it first, then it goes up in the air, (so range only and dots then), then it lands back down and you go crazy on it. The whelps he was talking about are these eggs in other rooms surrounding, and if anyone goes in there the whelps hatch out of the eggs and come in.
You also have to keep separated, if more than 2 people get too close together, the dragon will throw a fireball in the midst of you.

Was fun to watch.

Upvote for demonstrating just a very few of the reasons why WoW is stupid and everyone who plays it is stupid.

I played WoW for about half a year, but I could never really get into it. The feeling of impermanence and all that number chugging really bugged me.

great clip... played for about a year... was in a guild that was ranked 10 in the nation... not that im proud of it... left cause i realized there was this thing outside of my house called sun... such a beautiful thing.

As a WoW player I have also had the great pleasure of meeting players like this. Yelling and cursing at others when they don't act according to their perfect strategy. Yes, it's oh so very sad, and mature guilds with friendly people who play first and foremost to have fun are kind of rare. But they exist and if you find one, like I have, the game is just brilliant. And with over 8 million people playing, maybe it's time to accept that not all players are pale teenagers with no social life.

Yeah the animation makes it all worth it, this guy should get his own series of webisodes. It almost reminded me of that one funny animated video about all the countries nuking the shit out of each other lol

lol, classic World of Warcraft video... i wonder if ppl looked for a new guild after that. Imagine being an app in this guy's raid. But at least raiding and probably pvp arena as well would always be fun in the right guild... I wish i knew this guy's guild website so i could look at their recruitment forum.
