Why Government Should Be Paying You for Your Information

Via PBS: What if government paid for the information it collected on its citizens? Jaron Lanier, widely regarded as the father of virtual reality and the author of "Who Owns the Future?", suggests that would be one step toward balancing the exploitative nature of the free technology that's making society more unequal. I'm thinking Ted Kaczynski was on to something. I certainly don't approve of his tactics to get people to listen, but his message was certainly relevant; now more than ever.

And how do you think the government would get the money to pay for this information? Don't give them the justification that its unjust because we're not paid for the information they acquire. Its unjust because its a violation the 4th amendment.
