choggiesays...Gonna saaaayyyy, ripped of musak fro some slow-motion viddy (or simply some free-association), a regulated way of duplication as to study the effects, some, safety measures, to insure no loss of life, limb, property, or otherwise......

joedirtsays...I'm not impressed. For one thing you don't need that long of a barrel if you are only shooting things that are 2 ft away. I've seen more powerful ones that use ether/propellant and spark. I'm not sure compressed air can get the same rate of expansion. I guess it depends on how fast your valve opens.
arvanasays...joedirt, you may still need a long barrel to accelerate your spuds up to maximum velocity. You're right though, it's definitely overkill when it comes to accuracy.
Regardless, it's a lot more firepower than most people would think you can get out of a potato and some plastic pipe.

direpicklesays...In the late 90s there was a website that featured the BFPG9K (a reference to the BFG9K, of course, with a P for Potato inserted). The creators' goal was to create a pneumatic potato gun capable of a mach 1 potato. They never quite got above 600mph, though, I think. But the exploding watermelons were super cool.
It's a shame, the website and all of the videos are long gone, now.
gorgonheapsays...Funny how they say "don't try this at home. I'm pretty sure they did this at home.
