The Beauty of Crysis

Who says that games can't be art? This is a short video of screenshots taken with Crysis' Sandbox 2 level editor, and it may change your mind about art and gaming. The game can look very realistic if you have a computer that can handle it. The maker of this video explained that he changed the lighting, and was only able to run at 3 fps to grab the screenshots in Fraps. It even has some nice music to boot.

The only reason why people think it's so is because of the god rays!
They put them everywhere and think it's cool...
It's not the 50'th time you see them!

Now a sunset in Crysis on the Carrier MP map is awesome on Very high.

Yes, the God Rays are becoming one the new defining features for "nextgen" graphics. DX10 in World In Conflict does the thing, and there may be other examples that I can't think of right now. This video uses screens that are pumped up artificially with extra lighting so the game, in reality, doesn't look this great. And keep in mind these are done in the level editor, so there is a discrepancy between this and the real game. Other than that, Crysis can make some stunning scenes in-game, but either way neither will look that good on a youtube video.
