And yet, as of this posting, McCain is AHEAD 10% in the polls in rural America.

Why am I not surprised?

I don't know about the polls, but the futures markets (where people have to put their money where their mouths are) are more accurate predictors anyway, and http://www.intrade.com/ at the time of writing gives Obama a 52% vs. McCains 47% chance of winning.

The biggest fluctuations their market is showing at this point are Ohio and Virginia going back and forth between the two candidates, but even when McCain has them, Obama wins the electoral college by 8 votes. Click the above link to see the predicted electoral college outcomes.

I didn't realize they had a state-by-state prediction market.

If someone wanted to gamble on this election (and I'm getting sorely tempted to), I'd say buy stock in Virginia -- Obama is more likely to win that than Nevada, IMO.

... there was also an amazing newscast report video that showed the new electronic voting machines in California were decertified by some officials. This video has been stripped off of youtube several months and I haven't been able to find it since.

the best thing about being john mccain is none of your supporters give a shit what you say. he just has to pause occasionally for them to applaud.

So who wants to place bets? I predict McCain wins.. even though the vast majority of the US population is 'truly' not in support of having a Bush#2 in office.
