The horses are the world famous Lipizzaners or Lipizzan horses performing the haute ecole or high school movements of classical dressage. Baroque or warm blood horses, they were developed in the 16th century by the Hapsburgs. Primarily grey horses by breeding preference since the 18th century, they are born dark, usually bay or black and grey in 6 to 10 years.

There is some small amount of School Jumps or Airs Above The Grounds. These movement are spectacular but not martial in origin.
