choggiesays...Guess there's lotsa booster cameras floatin round the planet-Does the booster re-enter and burn up?
amxcvbcvsays...The SRBs splash down in the Atlantic about 20 miles out 7.5 minutes or so after launch. The external tank reenters the atmosphere usually over the Indian Ocean.
The shuttle goes on to orbit because it performs an OMS burn 30-45 minutes after launch at its apogee to raise the perigee above the atmosphere.
choggiesays...Then perhaps they retrieve the cammy and tape it to the next booster.
picklekingsays...(oooops .... accidental upvote .... I thought I was clicking for Tim Burton's Halloween clip)
For the record, I do not support the space shuttle missions. The entire program is too expensive for the meager info resulting. Why are we wasting so much public funds and other resources to play this ridiculous
antsays...There used to be videos of the cameras falling back to the sea. It was awesome. See http://aqfl.net/?q=node/view/3898 (also see /.). Unfortunatelly, these videos are not there anymore. If anyone can find them, please share.
amxcvbcvsays...Here you go, Ant. http://www.videosift.com/story.php?id=17372
There are several on Youtube, but I really liked that montage. The music is okay.
antsays...=) Yep, but the ones I saw were non-split and silent. Hehe. Good enough!
