In hindsight one wonders why a country would copy something as flawed as the Space Shuttle when traditional boosters are so much better. Nice find.

I was amazed how bad the space shuttle was when we studied it in my college engineering ethics class. It was more or less a political design and the challenger disaster happened despite frantic warnings by the engineers because there was political pressure to keep up the promised routine flights and cost savings.
spoco2says...This is, of course, just a pretend 'briefing', but full of fascinating stuff.
The soviet engineers had really great ideas of what to do that could have well been better than the US program, but those on high demanded that they do THE SAME as the yanks just to show they could.
Soviet leadership is a fascinating, ridiculous study in how not to run a country.
