Senator Durban says illegal immigrant could be president

Article 2 Section One Clause 5 Of The Constitution Says Otherwise:
"No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States."

He's referring to the DREAM act, another yet-to-pass roundabout amnesty program courtesy of the mexicrats.

"We can't give amnesty to the criminal parents so we'll legalize their children! The welfare state and our voter rolls will continue to grow while the dumbass taxpayers suck it up!"

I was talking specifically about the ending of the clip right after he said what you are all so angry about. I would have liked to have heard more of it, to better understand the context of his statement. I'm not supporting what he's saying, for the same reasons you are quoting, that only a natural born citizen can become president per the Constitution.

I am surprised to see folks getting themselves so worked up over this impossible hypothetical and ultimately incorrect statement made by one man. You are acting as if his words can come true just because he holds an office and said it in front of a bunch of people. He can be wrong, and is, just like anyone else.

this whole "president must be born in the country" shit is just that. Shit. Almost all countries have that rule, and it's just moronic.

I couldn't give a bigger shit if the person governing my country is from country X or Y or Z. What I DO care about, is if they're honest and competent. But this is just one of the many hurdles we are still to overcome as humans.

I can't tell if you are angry that he misspoke/is misinformed or that you think he's advocating some sort of liberal/dirty Mexican conspiracy to get an illegal immigrant elected president.

So why didn't you say that in your original post? You just posted this video, quoted the Constitution and posted a link. I have no idea what you think, so I just have to assume this made you angry in some way. I was trying to get some information about what made you post this.

By "mexicrats" you mean Reagan-Republicans, right?
